Hey everyone! I’m thinking of adding a feathered friend to my family in the near future, a cockatiel to be exact. Does anyone else own any birds? Do your bunnies get along with your birds and vice versa? Any diseases my cockatiel could give my rabbit or any diseases that my rabbit could give my cockatiel that I should be worried about?

My cockatiel hates my rabbit, haha. She’ll screech at her and threaten to bite her. But I think it will depend on the personality of the bird you get. My cockatiel hates everything and everyone, except me most of the time.
My rabbit has no problem with the bird, she actually pretty much ignores her. She does like to eat bird poop and left over bird pellet that got dropped to the ground…

My conure seems pretty frightened of the bunny. Our starling on the other hand loves loves loves the bunny and constantly sits with her and serenades her. She will follow him around in the kitchen so I think she likes him too and when she goes into her cage, he will follow her in and even goes into her cubby sleeping space.

Most diseases they get would not effect each other. However they could carry things in that are dangerous. If you get a bird from a place which also houses rabbits you could bring something in. Quarantine for 6 weeks of any new animal is really a good idea.
