I bought the ITIs 4 panel pet playpen for my buns but I put the extension to make it 70 inches long and it’s 35 wide. I need some ideas for the roof. My 7 month old keeps getting out somehow. I call her Houdini because of that. I put 10 grids together but it’s hard to keep it on. Any one have any other ideas?

You can get reusable zipties, that is what we use for our run pen outside since one of the connectors broke. http://www.amazon.com/Bluecell-Releasable-Reusable-Organization-Management/dp/B008OC2EE6

Thanks for the suggestion but those aren’t going to work. I need a roof.

Some nice cheap fabric of some sort? You can make it something pretty but sturdy enough to handle being clipped or ziptied on top

I have a curtain for the roof right now. I just came home from work and there she was in the hallway. She got out again. I have it clipped with a bag chip clip, is there something stronger I can use?

You can make sturdy rooves from zip ties and grids.  I’ve taken some close up photos.  If you look carefully you can see the grids overlapping.  You can also see that grids placed side by side are truly side by side (one’s not slightly on top).  The yellow zip ties hold the roof up.  The metal zip ties are back up in case of disaster.  They aren’t tight.  You can also see the zip tie pattern that I used.  You could follow the same one if you like.  Trust me, it doesn’t move!  In fact, when I recently moved Cincinnati’s pen across my living room, I picked it up off of it’s base by the roof.

I should also mention that the middle grids sit on top of the outer ones (where they overlap).  Tightly zip tying the outer grids to the frame is very important.

For now I’ve done what boing has done but with fabric (ran zip ties through the fabric). It’s temporary until I come up with something else that I can remove easily but also function, but it works (: (same pen)

I’m using the grids like you are. It’s working. I have a spot that’s not tied down. It’s just held down with bungee cords.

The grids are a pain in the ass. It takes my 8 month bunny forever to come out of her cage. Plus it’s hard to clean. I had to take the grids down as the roof. I now have the curtain back up. I’m hoping she won’t get out again.

I posted on this a while back so I’m sorry it took so long- but I finally made a roof for my pen to share- it’s been holding up perfectly and comes off by just lifting off and is really light since it’s all cardboard(she can’t chew with it being the roof and it’s perfectly sturdy).

That roof looks amazing – it’s like candy house – how funny !
And if it works, then great !! I suppose it only works if the rabbit can’t touch it when standing up on hind legs, or they’d soon work out that with a little nudge it would move… or maybe its fixed.
But it certainly looks very cute !

My rabbit is a pretty average size and can’t reach even close to the top of the pen, she can just jump out of there is no roofing so roofs of any kind weren’t ever an issue so long as she had no large gaps to jump through(:
