I noticed these white flakes on the nape of my babies neck. I called the vets office to make an appointment. The vet said he didn’t need to see my bunny that I could just pick up Revolution and apply to my babes. I picked the Revolution up at his office and the box says it’s for animals that are 5lbs. My bunny is only 3 lbs., should I be scared to use this? The veterinary said it won’t harm him. Has anybody used Revolution?

Revolution is bunny safe. i am surprised he didn’t break down the dose for you for the size bunny, but you can do it yourself. I use it on my rats if that makes you feel better..and it has to be broke down to really tiny amounts for their size.

“Safe treatments to prevent and kill fleas on rabbits include Advantage (imidocloprid), Program (lufenuron) and Revolution (selamectin). (Note: Advantage has been known, rarely, to irritate the skin of certain rabbits.) The latter is preferred, as it is also effective against various types of mites that cause symptoms of mange, ear canker, and “dandruff” (which is often caused by fur mites in the genus Cheyletiella). These products are available from your rabbit-savvy veterinarian. We use 0.4ml per rabbit of Advantage. For Revolution, we use the kitten dose and apply it between the shoulder blades once a month for at least three doses. Revolution is usually dosed at 6mg/kg. If you have the 60mg/ml solution (i.e. the kitten solution), use 0.1cc per kg of body weight (1kg = 2.2lb). If you have the 120mg/ml solution, use 0.05cc per kg of body weight. You’ll need a tuberculin syryinge (no needle!) from your vet to measure such a small quantity of liquid. Apply to the back of the neck or other area where the bunny can’t readily groom it off. It is essential to thoroughly clean your rabbit’s cage and exercise areas after each treatment to control reinfestation, since fur and dander in the environment may contain mite eggs.”

Revolution is bunny safe and much used and highly effective. In short, it’s the best stuff =) The type for kittens is generally recommended, but perhaps your vet didn’t have that. 6-18 mg per kilo rabbit is the recommended minimum dosage for effective treatment of mites. You should be able to calculate how much to give him of the Revolution you have from the amount and concentration stated on the package. Give the figures here and we’ll help you calculate.

Thank you so much Mimsy and Bam, I get so nervous when administrating anything to my babes. I was kinda hoping our vet would do it just to be safe. I’m feeling more confident now. Thank you so much.
