I’m looking around for different brands that sell hay. My rabbit didn’t really go for the oxbow Timothy hay when I first got her. She ended up liking Kaytee Timothy hay which was fine for me because it is cheaper. But I am wanting something that might be better quality. I just ordered a 5 lb box of 2nd cut Timothy hay from small pet select so we will see how Fuji likes that. Where do you all buy your hay, and from what brand?

Edit to add: I just checked out the hay they sell online here. It seems to be fairly cheap… What is the shipping prices and were you happy with the quality of hay?

I buy from a local farmer. $5/bale which lasts 6+ months and every rabbit I’ve ever had loves it.

Liebchen can’t get enough of the hay from One Ear Up. I saw someone on here mention it, so I gave it a try, and I’ve never seen that rabbit eat so much hay. She’s been eating their organic house blend timothy and organic june/brome grass, but they’ve run out of the june/brome and are almost out of the house blend timothy, so I’ve ordered some of their organic solstice and meadow hays for her to try. If you do order from them, use the coupon code HRS for 5% off!

She also really likes Oxbow’s organic meadow hay and the mature oat hay from the Binky Bunny store.

I’d love to try timothy for my rabbit, but I think its all imported here or something, because its majorly expensive. like $100 plus for a small bale, and Boonie’s fussy anyway so I don’t even know if she’d eat it.
I tried a few different ones, but ended up getting Oaten hay from a local farm, $9 a bale, it seems quite good quality and she eats it, so thats gotta be good. She prefers her hay to be as fresh as possible. If the hay has been in a bag, then its been kept too long for her standards. But I dont mind because that happens to be the cheapest hay I could buy haha

I used to buy locally grown hay in big bales for around $5-7. Right now I’m currently using Kaytee timothy hay because all of the local feed stores have no hay so I have to buy that bagged stuff. It seems fragrant and green and Moxie likes it. The only think I absolutely hate about it is that the pieces are short so it just falls out of her hay rack and gets wasted and there’s a bit of chaff on it so it irritates her nose.

My bunny is EXTREMELY picky about his hay but he seems to enjoy eating Oxbow’s Oat hay with a mixture of Oxbow’s Orchard hay.

I’ve been using Oxbow timothy hay for the last few years, but I just recently found some nice hay bales that I’m very excited about. They’re much greener than the timothy hay I buy and super soft and leafy. The rabbits seemed to like the first handful I gave them, so I’m hopeful it means I won’t be buying any from the pet store anytime soon.

I get hay for free from the stables where we keep our horse, it’s essentially a mix of timothy and meadow hay from a field behind the stables.

Mine likes orchard grass hay, but a feed store near me sold huuuge bales of mountain grass hay for pretty cheap, so far no problems and she likes it even more than orchard grass.
