        Hello all,

This is probity nothing but the past few days (+?) bunny butt has being acting a bit different.  We did our best to give him a brushing the other day and he fought it, so I was worried that he might have hurt him self as I over worry.  But after a few days I am not stressed about him being hurt but I did realize that he has been acting slightly odd for him.

He has just been extra people-friendly bunny lately.  Its not bad, its just not like him.  Instead of sleeping in his room he is spending more time in the living room. (I don[’t mind but it is a change of his normal sleeping areas, which would be his room the hall way and next to the couch.  He would lay in the living room every now and again but this has been the more often then not the past week) He has also being doing a lot of a puffed up sitting position, looks like a fuzzy bubble. Not his normal flop and stretch.  (Not that he doesn’t flop and stretch but this sitting bubble has been more so)

Also he normally only wants about 3 minutes of human time at a time.  Maybe once in the morning and once at night.  Lately the human time has been 20+ minutes.  If I sit on the floor, he comes up right away and he has interacted with me for almost an hour at a time and even then its not ‘run off and lay down looking at us’ its ‘turn away and sit next to me.’

I’m happy that he is being more friendly and more interactive, such as laying in the living room.  But it occurred to me that this is odd behavior for him.  We did have a bunny that we bunny sat for a few months back, and once she left he went into the spot that we had her and kept laying there and did so until we cleaned everything single thing up.  He seemed to like having her around even if she didn’t like her.  So when I realized how affectionate he has been I’m now worried that he might be sad because of a lack of another bunny?  I don’t mind him being more affectionate but it is different for him and I don’t know if one should be worried about a change of demure in their bunny?  He is full grown, young, 2+? years, nurtured.  So I thought he would be past any behavior changes?

Nothing else about him is off, he eats and loves treats, still does the bunny 500 in the morning.  He is just acting different.  It may not be in a bad way but I’m not sure if the change is something to question??

Sorry if this was a dumb post but I figure that I should make sure that there is not something I should be looking at with him or not.

        Thank you for your time!

It’s definitively not a dumb post. With my bunny Bam who I got when he was fully adult, I see development behavior-wise in sudden “leaps”. He was very shy at first, then suddenly, after a year, he became social and started demanding pets. He has only recently allowed me to sit him in my lap and per him. Before that, only my mother ever got to do that. I’ve had Bam for 4 years in November, so a bunny absolutely can develop behavior-wise after adolescence. It’s not like he changes behavior, it’s like he is developing and learning and daring to try new stuff. If that makes any sense at all :/

Before i say anything I just wanted to mention how cute it is that ur rabbit’s called “bunny butt” and Bam’s rabbit is “bunny bam” and my rabbit is “Boonie Bam” but I sometimes call her “Boonie butt” haha :p
            Gosh

Anyway what I was going to say is my rabbit has changed quite often over the years, she’s 4 now. And sometimes she seems to want more affection and other times she seems to be sick of me. She often will sit in that bunny bubble position u described and when she does this I think she looks sad but most of the time I find she’s just asleep lol. Though sometimes she seems to do it like a demand thing, like as if to say “why are u not paying attention to me right now?”
As long as ur rabbit is doing everything else normal, it may just be like Bam said he’s trying new things.

I think that my cats still think rabbits are weirdos, with all their different moods and the decisions they make. The cats will look at her like “what are u doing now? Don’t u understand ur supposed to sit and sleep in the same spot each day? and sleep is far more important then jumping around in the hallway.”

Ha. His real name is Flop but for some reason I always find myself calling him bunny butt. XD

Ok, good to know. I just wanted to be sure that it wasn’t something that I should be keeping my eye on him for.
Thank you very much for the feed back!
