George and Charlie like in a 97cmx97cm pen and share a litter box to save space (though I do have a second box). Both rabbits will pee in the box when they’re the one in it and will sit together to eat hay.

I’m wondering if they won’t wee in the pen while the other is in there because some bun has been peeing outside the litter box. I think it started when one of them peed on the cardboard they were chewing on and ever since each day I’ve found urine in the same spot. Moved their pen to the Lino floor in the kitchen, took out their rug for washing and chucked out the mangy bit of cardboard.

This morning I find that they’ve peed and pooped in the cardboard carrier box Charlie came in. They’ve both had access to it for a week and shared it for the last two nights. Previously they’ve only renovated it. The only difference is that I put a book in there for them to dig.

Could it be that one of them needs the loo and finds somewhere to go? Or is this marking? It seems a shame to have to throw out the box so soon.

It could be marking. I would think marking.
