        Hello,

I need help determining if my bunny has gotten an eye infection or something similar. Yesterday I noticed that her left eye was wet but I tough that she maybe got it wet from the water bottle, however today it looks like it could be something more serious and I’m thinking about a vet visit. I took a picture of her eye today and I found a picture that was taken when her eye was normal. I’m currently ill, but I can push myself out the house for my bunny, or I can even treat it at home.

        Thanks in advance

If needed I can repost the images in bigger format.

Kind of hard to tell by the current photos
Rabbits can get irritations from things like dust, so it is hopefully just something like that, but if u notice any crusty stuff or white discharge it could be an infection
Also if it spreads to the other eye or hangs around for more than a few days it may be an infection
If it turns out to be an infection she’ll need to go to the vet

As for right now, if u have chamomile tea and honey u can make up some tea and once it’s cold, try to drip some into her eye if she’ll let u. Or use the tea when it’s warm (not hot) and soak some cotton wool balls in it and hold them on her eyes.
Both chamomile and honey are antibacterial and soothing.
You can also make a warm compress with warm water if u don’t have those ingredients. Or flush her eye with saline.

          Best of luck

Go to a vet. Eye swelling is an indication of at least one fatal disease. If you are unsure do not wait for other opinions just go to your vet.

Thanks for the response, I have some chamomile tea so I will try your suggestion. If the situation doesn’t get better by tomorrow I will take her to the vet, although something like this happened last week but her eye dried up and was back to normal.

Might be worth a check anyway if its happened a few times. It could progress to something worse. Or indicate a teeth problem, as teeth problems can cause eye problems. So get the vet to also check her teeth.

If it’s swelling then definitely need a vet.
