Please could anyone give me some advice on this, I’m at a loss

4 weeks ago we our gorgeous 8 year old bunny passed away. She was beautiful and we were completely heart broken. She was our first pet together and we got her before our very first home, marriage etc. We still have our spayed little boy who is also 8.

Yesterday I found a 12 week year old rex cross doe (our girl was a mini rex) and I feel we should give this little one a home and try the process of bonding. To make things more complicated in 2 weeks time there is another gorgeous 8 week year old standard rex who took a liking to us just like our girl did all those years ago.

Am I crazy to try and bond all three? I am at a complete loss. Not sure if it is all too soon but it feels a little like fate.

The 12 week year old would have to be collected today so I need to make a decision quickly.

To make things even more complicated our 8 year old bunny does have a lump at the top of his nose which he takes medication for. He isn’t in pain and is very happy. However, he does sneeze sometimes. Our wonderful vet has never mentioned snuffles and our gorgeous girl never started sneezing but I worry one of the new bunnies could catch it.

        Sorry for the long post

I’m sorry about the recent loss of your bunny. Since both of the bunnies you are thinking of getting are young, and haven’t been spayed yet, you will have a bit of a wait until you could think of bonding one or both with your male rabbit. The first step in bonding is to have both or all rabbits spayed or neutered. Most females get spayed around 5 or 6 months old, then there is the recuperation period, so it would be some months before you could start the bonding process. It is certainly doable to bond 3 rabbits, but it will be more difficult. Here are some articles on bonding: http://rabbit.org/category/behavior/multiple-rabbits/.

Since you have some concerns about your male rabbit and whether or not he might be contagious, you should consult with your vet about the sneezing and what might be the cause of it.
