How long do you keep bunny food before you chuck it out for staleness?

I’ve got a box of FibraFirst from when Mr Roger had it and I think it would help with Charlie’s piggy eating. But it’s probably a few months old by now.

I also prefer to get larger bags of food but don’t want to make the rabbits I’ll by hanging onto them for too long. Both of George’s Burgess bags (junior and adult) have re sealable tops, but the FibraFirst only has a twist for the inner bag and Charlie’s rubbish food haas no closure method at all. (Shame they didn’t sell it in smaller bags, we got a cursory 500g with Mr Roger and it was perfect for transitioning…)

It rather depends on where it’s been stored, temp and humidity and direct light. My bunnies eat very little pellets so a bag lasts a long time, like a year. Since there’s very little fat in bunny-food of good quality, I think it keeps comparatively well.

Moxie’s 10 pound bag usually lasts a month or two (piggy bunny). Once we bought a 20 pound bag when Moxie was a baby and it lasted like 4-6 months. Like bam said, they last pretty well.
