So my bun has pooped very little in the past day. I dont know what it could be because she is acting very normal and she still has a big appetite. Should i just keep her on hay or should i give her pellets and veggies with hay ? Im just getting really worried because this has never happened before.

I’m no expert but that sounds very worrying and could be the start of GI stasis
Her digestive system may be slowing down and getting blocked up
I don’t know where u are or what time it is there but I’d make sure ur prepared to go to the vet cos GI stasis is very serious

Finally. She pooped , I did worry about GI stasis and thought it would be that. People say that their buns don’t eat or act normal when they have GI so I thought it wouldn’t be that. She pooped quite a large amount so I’ll just be keeping a close eye on her. Do you think I should feed her veggies and pellets ?

If she normally has them, I’d give them as usual.

I was going to say…some bunnies will hardly do anything then do a ton of poos all at once. Sounds like what she might have done?
Otherwise, Id have wondered if she’d been eating them.

Its been hours now and no more poop after that big pile of poop. She never ate her poop and i never saw her eat it today.. She is still acting her normal self. The thing is i dont really have any money to take her to the vet. I know that bunnies should keep their gut moving so im getting really worried about her not pooping. Anything i could do ?

While a visit to the vet will be necessary if it is stasis.

Although the evidence is sketchy around whether it helps, simithicone (baby gas) can be used to help pass things along in the intestines and break up gas bubbles. It’s been deemed safe for rabbits. THIS MUST BE SIMITHICONE AND NOT ANY OVER BABY GAS. THOUGH THE BRAND NAMES MAY VARY, THE INGREDIENT MUST BE SIMITHICONE.

Gently massaging the rabbits’ stomach can help, a quick Google should be able to show you the technique (I haven’t mastered it).

Making sure the rabbit is hydrated is important. Put water onto the rabbit’s vegetables to make them wetter.

Give her something warm to lean against if she wants to, giving her room to move away if she prefers).

Unless your rabbit is completely blocked up, it’s very important that they keep eating.

Mashed up pellets with water and/or Apple juice can be fed go rabbits using a wide end syringe though some rabbits will eat it off a spoon.

If she stops eating, or seems in pain (hunched up, pressing her stomach to the ground, fast breathing, lethargy, or if something seems off) she will need to see a vet who should be able to give her painkillers (these are necessary for recovery) and other medicine such as sub q fluids and something to move the gut along.

If you can encourage eating of hay, pellets and greens plus water she may recover without needing to see the vet.

If she does need the vet, do not allow the vet to insist she doesn’t need painkillers or to see how it goes. This can be a death sentence.

She isnt in pain at all. She binkies in her cage when she sees me coming with her food. Whats the ideal temperature of the room for a rabbit ?

And another pile of poop. Could it just be that she just holds it in longer ?

It could be. I know AL poops more at night/over night than he does all day long. My vet says that if they are eating then eventually they should poop. (unless there is a blockage of some sort) Veggies and hay are great for keeping the gut moving. When AL had a bout with stasis, the vet told me veggies were the best thing. If she is eating and acting normally and doesn’t seem to be in pain, then I would keep feeding her. How many hours go by without her pooping before a big pile? 12+ hours would cause me to worry.

The first day she didnt poop for 12+ hours but then she did , and it was a way bigger pile than normal. Then she did another pile in less then 12 hours. Can i give simthicone even if she doesnt really have gas ? If yes how do i give it to her and how much ?

You can give simethicone 1-2 ml of normal strength baby gas drop just in case. It’s not absorbed by the body. I syringe-feed it because my buns hate the taste and won’t eat anything mixed with Simethicone.
Ideal temp for a house bunny would be somewhere around 23 C or 73 F but they do well in temps below that too.

Not sure if what you are seeing is a change or not; so I would say closely observe and record what you are observing. Make sure if this is normal, that you know what it is, so that you know when something isn’t normal
