        Hello all!

I just recently got a bunny and he has been great for the first two weeks but is now starting to chew at and actually pull out parts of my carpet. I am worried about this because I am a student living in a rented house and I don’t want damage done but I would also like to let him roam so he isn’t cooped up in his cage all day.

I have read previous forums and nothing has worked so far as far as saying no and spraying the carpet. He doesn’t even choose certain corners of the room he will literally pull it out anywhere in the room including in the middle of it.

        Someone please help!

        thanks in advance!

So the only thing that has worked for me in regards to negative behavior such as chewing the couch, the carpet etc is a spray bottle with water on full stream and of course the usual ” no ! ” It takes persistence and consistency though, eventually they understand.

My girl loved ripping holes in the couch so quickly that water spraying didn’t work so I put a blanket over it which she can dig and ” fluff ” to her hearts content.

I would just contain when you can’t supervise on carpet-you could restrict your rabbit to areas with no carpet (kitchen, bathroom) otherwise.

Also get some toys that your bunny can do the naughty behaviour on-phone books, grass mats, a carpeted cat condo can all be ripped and chewed.

It’s a natural behaviour so if they have an appropriate outlet that is easy to do the behaviour they want to do on (grass mat, book, cat condo), and limited or no access to where they do the behaviour and you don’t want them to do (your floor) you’ll see improvement.
