I have a 11 month old english lop. From the beginning he has been very strong willed and stubborn when it comes to litter box training him. I got him neutered at 6 months in hopes that this would help, but it did not. He constantly leaves poop pellets all over the ground outside his cage and peeps in corners. I restricted him to his cage and slowly gave him more space to roam when he starts behaving but within 2 weeks we are back at square one. I live in an apartment with 3 guys. I being a female seem to be his favorite person since I cuddle and constantly play with him. I dunno if he pees outside his cage due to the other human males living in the apartment or what. When I let him run, I leave his cage open so he can jump back in. Lately, right when I let him out he runs straight to a corner to pee. He is also starting to get more aggressive with me when I confine his running area to a smaller area until he starts behaving. Help?

The aggressive behaviour is probably because he resents being shut away (even if it’s necessary).

Is it lots of different places around the room that’s he’s peeing? If it’s just a couple places it might be easier just to put litter boxes where he’s peeing.

Or block him from being able to reach those areas. (We blocked George from our bed for a while and she seems to have forgotten she likes to pee on it after some throughout cleaning.)

Some pellet dropping may always occur, though if it hasn’t reduced at all I can understand that being frustrated.

I think it’s unlikely that the males in the house are causing it – there’s no good evidence that humans give off pheromones, much less that rabbits would be identify types.

My unneutered male, Porky, never bothers with territorial marking at home, but last winter we had to go stay at my dad’s house for several weeks while having a burst pipe repaired. While staying at my fathers house, Porky started marking like mad.

I thought one of the possible reasons he was so obsessed with marking might have been the smell of teenage boy, since Porky stayed in the guest suite where my 19yo nephew usually sleeps when he visits.

He actually poops and pees everywhere. It use to be certain spots which I would block but the last 2 weeks he literally poops 100 pellets in 5 mins and willark random places with in 8. He didn’t do this before except for recently. Nothing has changed and litter training has always been a nightmare.
