I’m trying to litter box train and yes while she’s goes more
Then half of her pee and poop in the litter box half of it she still is everywhere else in her cage. I just changed the beeding to shredded up phone book paper because I think the carefresh bedding was making me and my fiancé sick and possibly the bun bun. Her peeing on that is gross. How do I train her properly?

I thinking you are doing everything right, an unspayed bunny in the midst of puberty more or less can’t be fully litter-trained. She has an urge (and it’s of course completely involuntary on her part) to mark her area as hers. So it’s not that she doesn’t understand that pee and poop should go in the litterbox, she sees alternative uses for her pee and poop, they are not just waste-products, they are important markers of territory. Once you get her spayed this should be much less of a problem. Until then – well, it sucks =(

I’ve actually read that about Carefresh before, we have had least one other member whose bunny didn’t tolerate it. You can use shredded newspaper, or you can use paper-pellets made of recycled newspaper (there’s a brand called Yesterdays News f ex) or you can use hardwood stove pellets. Hardwood stove pellets is the cheapest option. You don’t get it in pet shops but in feed stores and such, it’s not originally for pet use but for heating houses. I use hardwood stove pellets with my bunnies and it works very well for me, the used litter I recycle in my compost.

She actually does pretty good with the pee I guess. She pees right next to litter box in the same spot more then anywhere else if it’s not in the litter box and it’s up against the cage so I guess that’s better then all over. If I move the litter box over there’s a tiny 1 inch gap then on the left of it so yeah until I get a bigger cage I don’t know then. But I can see how she will be like this until she gets spayed just nervous about spaying here don’t want to lose her during surgery. I’m just glad I read those comments about people not liking the carefresh bedding and was making them and there animal sick because I’d be absolutely devastated if something happened now more then ever.

Is the “bedding” just in the litter box?

The littler is different in the box then around the cage

So what’s on the floor then? I’m asking because having “bedding” on the floor can cause confusion, even if it’s a different texture.
