        Hey folks.

Fox has been sneezing lately. It is usually about half a dozen times a day that I hear. Sometimes it is a brief sneezing fit that last a few seconds. Mostly it is just a single sneeze.

He is a Holland Lop, and I’ve been told that their noses can get a bit moist in the warmer weather (and it’s been really hot up here the last while), However, I’m just worried about the sneezing.

I took him to the Vet the other day for his first check up, mentioned the concern. The vet checked him out, said his breathing was fine, other than the dampness and a small amount of discharge, it wasn’t bad. It warranted watching, but she didn’t think there was a need for anything else.

I just worried. How much sneezing is too much? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

My oldest bun Midnight is super sensitive (like her human slave, lol) to dust and dirt, while my younger has no problems. I see my oldest sometimes sneeze once a day or 10 times a day but the vet didn’t see it as a cause for concern when she was little. They both do sneeze when they get the twisted hay and it wiggles against their nose or when they try to inhale their food/treats. They also sometimes get fur in their nose due to the hot summer months.

The wetness isn’t necessarily a concern. The discharge may be though, however. Can be a sign of respiratory problems or a bunny cold. Just a precaution, make sure your vet isn’t one of those that are like, trained with dogs and cats, and just deals with rabbits for the extra chance of customers (you’d be surprised by what people will do for a little extra money). I say keep an eye on him, if the discharge doesn’t clear within the next week or so, then you may want to get a second opinion.

Thanks! Just so you know the Vet has experience with Rabbits, Rats, and all manner of other critters. (She herself has Chinchilla’s and one of the other girls that works there has a pair of rabbits). I left her a message detailing the current situation, she told me if every thing stayed the same, it was fine, but if it got more intense or if any type of discharge came from the eyes or nose that I should bring him in as soon as possible.

Fox has had an excellent appetite, it is a really good chance that the heat had just been getting to him. I also didn’t hear him sneeze at all yesterday. He was so active all evening, he didn’t want to go to bed.
