It’s time Ava got spayed. I’ve been reluctant because of what happened to Ragnar, but it’s something that has to be done. I had legitimate reasons for putting it off, but now she’s healthy and has lost the excess weight. I talked about it to her vet and I’m going to schedule a pre-spay checkup. He suggests getting an x-ray done because she’s an adult female. I also want to have blood work done.  What do you think? Does the x-ray sound like a good idea, I’m kinda worried about sedating her for the x-ray but if it could detect any problems. What pre-spay tests and measures have other members taken? I’m so worried, I don’t know if I can go through this again.

I’ve never had X-rays done but I always do pre-anaesthetic blood work now. I don’t think I did for the two females I had spayed due to lack of knowledge. It’s an extra cost to the procedure but def worth it for the peace of mind IMO.

I know it can be scary and I’m always stressed and worried when my bunny goes under but statistically it’s very safe. Just think of how many of us BBers have had successful, problem free spays as opposed to the negative outcome.

If you have confidence in your vet and he gives you the okay, just remember that it’s really in her best interest and you are doing it because you are a good bunny parent.
