Shes supposedly 12 weeks tomorrow so its time for veggies!!!!!!  I was going to give her romane lettuce.  How should I introduce it and how much?  Should I take some pellets away yet?

New foods should be introduced 1 at a time and slowly (small amounts. I’m not exactly sure how much you should give her. How big is she? Maybe around 1/4 of a cup or less? Not sure on that one, hopefully the other members will have some more specific amounts to introduce). Watch for any signs of upset stomach to see if that food doesn’t agree with her.

Take it slow, only 1 new type of a veggie per week. Too much variety could give her an upset stomach.

          Good luck!

Don’t cut back on her pellets yet. You can still provide “unlimited” for awhile yet. For the veggies, do a new one each week like Moxie said. You can start out with a small amount such as a few leaves of romaine to see how she does. If all seems well, you can increase the amount as you go.

Kale is sort of hit or miss with bunnies. Mine won’t touch the stuff, but others’ bunnies like it. If she doesn’t want to try it, don’t worry. You can always try something else.

My bunnies adore kale, but I seem to remember that they didn’t the first few times I offered it. Then they took to it as a house on fire.

Rabbits may be reluctant to try new food. It’s probably some sort of protective instinct. If she turns out to actually be a kale-hater, as LBJ says, you can try something else like cilantro or romaine or dandelion.

I think you can try herbs too. Mine likes herbs better than veggies.
