› Forum › THE LOUNGE › WATCHING BABY BILLY GROW
This is Billy Bunny, he is my giant Flemish baby.
I got him 2 weeks ago when he was 10 weeks old.
He has settled in very fast and is super quiet.
He loves his cat toys and toilet rolls.
Billy will jump up onto your lap for a pat or just flop down next to you.
He loves being out the back in the garden running through the dirt and doing binkies.
He will come up to you for a quick pat and off he goes again.
Oh and he likes to sleep on my feet
Looking forward to watching him grow as this is my first giant Flemish.
I will update you all with photos and how he’s going a couple times a week if you would like to see him grow too.
Cutie look forward to following him grow!
What a cutie! Really excited to see him grow!
Billy my Giant Flemish was 12 weeks old yesterday..
Today he had fun exploring the backyard..
What a stunner!!!! I just adore his colours!
Billy aka Bunny my giant Flemish is now 14 weeks old..
He is such a placid bunny, he follows you around the backyard like a puppy..
If your digging in the garden he will come up and stick his nose in to see what your doing..
He runs around the yard doing binkies only stopping to have a quick munch on the grass..
When he’s had enough he just flops down anywhere and has a rest..
Billy’s colour is changing, its getting lighter grey with white, his fur is soo soft..
He loves his tucker and eats lots..
Aww, he’s so cute! He sounds like a really great gardening-companion!
He is… He helps himself to all the veggie seedlings.. I have to plant extra..
One for Billy, two for the garden
Billy is really cute!
Billy is now 16 weeks old and we are having a lot of fun watching him grow and play..
Love watching Billy grow!
I’ve really enjoyed seeing his growth so far. He’s going to be a big boy
Seeing this makes me want a Flemish giant ! Anyone else ?
Thanks everyone..
U R 2 Cute Billy!!!!!!
Billy is so cute! I love his fur color!
he’s beautiful
Thanks, we think he’s cute and beautiful too
His fur looks like a dark cloud thats about to rain any minute. Such a handsome little guy
He is beautiful, I love his coloration!
Do you know how much he weighs?
Thanks Avantika, his fur is getting a lot lighter, his body is starting to get white through it and his feet and face are staying dark. What breed is your cute girl Moshu, love the ears..
Thanks Moxiemeadows, no I don’t know his weight, he doesn’t feel heavy, he feels like a fluffy soft cuddly toy when your cuddle him.
I put my handbag down on the ground for a minute and nosey little Billy comes running up and starts chewing my straps its like having a little puppy in your backyard
double post oops!
Moshu is either a florida white or a polish white. Both the breeds are quite similar so I never precisely got to know which one is her.
Awww!
17 weeks and growing up fast.
Billy hates wooden floor boards, he wont walk on them unless he really has too.
He likes to check everything out..
And wants to be picked up..
Oh I see well fenced back yard. Lucky bunny !
He’s adorable. Can’t wait to see him get even bigger.
Lovely that he’s so curious and affectionate.
I must say – my wife is paranoid George will turn out to be a giant but at 1.5kg at 5.5 months I don’t think she will!
Thanks Paradigm, What kind of bunny is George.. Is that her in your avatar.. Would love to see more photos..
I just want to grab him and hug him!!!!!
what a beautiful bun!
He is very huggable..
Thanks Deem, your bunny in your avatar is cute, love the droopy ears..
Billy is 17 weeks today and going great.
Hi. He is so cute I have two 6 month old flemish giants named Helen and Athena. I love the updates I find no one has flemish giants any where.
Marren
Hi Marren,
Thanks I will add some new pics soon..
Do u have a photo of your two flemishes, would love to see them..
Oh my, how gorgeous is he?!! Looks like so much fun
Hi CooperLop,
Yes he is so much fun.. It’s like having a puppy that runs around your feet and follows you everywhere..
Cooper and Chester are very cute..
I just figured out how to post I’m not sure how to do pictures but I think I got the one of when I first got them at 7 weeks
Update didn’t manage to get a picture but my profile picture is them when I first got them the lighter one is Helen and the darker one is Athena.
Yes I had a bit of trouble at first.. I couldn’t do it by my mobile but on computer it was easier.. You have to resize your photos first . Don’t do the quick reply, you need to click on the dark green box above with cross in it.. Then u upload your photo and attach and send..
When you do get the photos, please send some as I still would like to see them at 7 months.
Billy is now 19 weeks old
Omg, that third picture! I have giant bunny envy! Lol
Lol thanks BrunosMama..
That’s my 6 year old daughter holding her bunny Billy who is nearly 5 months old.. If he keeps growing she might have a bit of trouble picking him up soon lol.
Hi everyone,
Billy is now 20 weeks old or 5 months..
He is growing into a very placid, funny boy..
He loves to just hang out and dig in the garden..
Doesn’t have a problem at being picked up and cuddled..
Follows you around everywhere and comes inside if door is left open.
He has also worked out how to let himself out of the house by pushing on the back screen door.
Fab pictures, lovely to see him growing.
Er, did you say “IF he keeps growing….” ho ho ho ! Ohhh yes. He will !!! LOL
What’s his weight now?
Love this thread! Do you know how much weight he’s gained since you got him?
Looks like he has adapted to venturing onto the non carpet floors.
Looks like he has adapted to venturing onto the non carpet floors.
Hi Vienna Blue,
No I never weighed him so im unsure about how much he weighs.
But my daughter said he’s getting sooo heavy lol
Hello BunLuv,
Yes he does walk on the floorboards but only for little bit, he doesn’t venture far and he walks around very slowly.
If I call him inside he’ll walk in only a few steps, I shut the screen and he pushes the door and walks back out.
Hi Boing,
No sorry I never weighed him.. But he’s defiantly getting bigger..
To weigh mine I weigh me+animal (in arms), then I weigh just me (shock) and do a substraction…. simples !! :o))
I don’t own any weight scales..
Only small kitchen ones..
Ah, that would be tricky then… lol.
So there’s a question for the intelligent BBers out there, HOW TO WEIGH A BUNNY WITHOUT SCALES?
Place bunny in a large (can’t jump out of) bucket attached to a broom handle balanced over the shoulders of Annmaree and her +1 putting packets of rice in the other bucket hanging off the other end….to find the horizontal balance…. Yes, I have a good imagination….. !! :o)
I use kitchen ones with my birds, they know they get a treat for sitting on it so fly right to it when it’s out. I think the human one would be easier with a bunny though if I wanted to do the same trick. Scale = treats.
I used a big bowl to weigh Willow on the kitchen one, she really didn’t like it and neither did I. I’d much rather her like the scale, so I’m going to try and find something inexpensive that can fit a bunny butt on it.
Billy my Flemish Giant is now 6 months old..
Now check those hind legs out!!! That’s some serious power if he decided to use them!!
Lovely photos ! He seems huuuuge with the little girl and then not so big running on the square of grass….
And he’s got lovely colouring too !
Yeah he does look a bit smaller. I think it’s because when he’s being held by my 6 year old daughter he’s just all loose and floppy, he just hangs there. And when he’s out eating on grass he’s bunched up..
His fur is getting a lot whiter as he gets older
Thanks, we think he’s cute and beautiful too
He’s getting so big.
Billy is now 12 months old.. He hasn’t got much bigger but he has gotten funnier and more nosey.. He also does the dead bunny look, just flops down anywhere for a snooze..
Check those ears out ! He’s like a teenager that hasn’t quite grown into his own body yet !!! LOL
he’s got some growing to do yet….. Lucky bun, he looks happy !!
Aww… I just saw this thread, but I wanted to say that Billy is ADORABLE! I was actually considering adopting a Flemish Giant before I found Chomondeley. Billy certainly looks content and relaxed!!
Yes his ears do look to big for his body lol
Billy is 10months old, not 12months…
Not sure if he gets any bigger as I have never had a Flemish Giant before.
He’s got a lovely face – in my one Vienna Blue experience, she “filled out” after 12months and pretty much doubled in weight….
I don’t think she got much ‘longer’, if you know what I mean. (I didn’t think she had and then I saw photos of her at 1yr, and at 20 months….. errr, YEs she did !!)LOL
Oh my goodness, he is SOOO cute! It’s so sweet he lets your little girl hold him and carry him like that. He is a very lucky bunny, indeed. I’m so very glad you saved him. I really love all your adorable pictures. It just warms my heart.
Hi Vienna Blue,
I hope he does fill out more more.. You don’t really notice the little spirts of growth when you see them all the time. That’s why I take lots of photos, so you can look back on them and really see how big he has gotten..
Hello ArvadaLanee,
Thank you, we think he’s cute too lol.
Billy doesn’t mind at all being picked up and carried around by my 6 year old daughter.. He’s a very layed back quiet bunny and has been constantly handled from 10 weeks old..
Have you seen Geoffrey and Darius on youtube ?? Not sure Billy’s related, but 4 ft 8 rabbit makes mine look like a dwarf !! LOL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fo236Hfaqs
Billy is amazing and beautiful! I have a half Flemish giant and this makes me want a full blood ❤️
Hi Vienna Blue,
Yes I have seen Geoffrey and Darius on you tube.. They are huge, cant believe a bunny could get sooo big..
Thanks Beccalionsmom,
Is that your half Flemish in your avatar with the lion mane.. so nice..
Billy is my first Flemish Giant bunny and I have had a couple of smaller breed bunnies during my life but I cant believe how placid and friendly the Flemish bunnies are.. I don’t know if I just got a good one or if their known for their calmness..
Is your half Flemish a quiet bunny?
Billy’s fur has lightened and he now has dark patches on his back
LOL – I know your daughter is kind and gentle with him, but the look on his face…. LOL !!
It’s like, “have we finished yet? I’ve got some grass to go and chomp”!! Almost like a family dog’s face when a kid is giving a huge cuddle, they sort of put up with it, liking it but pretending not to :!!
Lovely pics….
Is Billy a secret, or are you allowed pet rabbits in your state?
she is so sweet and friendly, never hides from us and loves to follow me around the house and help with everything!! Im dying to post more pictures of her here and make a thread like yours about billy because she changed so much over the first year but im really having some issues getting the pictures onto the forum, any advice would be so appreciated! can I message you?
Yes he looks like that when I pick him up for a cuddle too, its like “Oh no not again” lol
Plus my daughter doesn’t pick him up all the time, only under supervision and for a quick photo..
No Billy isn’t a secret, I just don’t like putting my daughters face on the web.
Hi Beccalionsmom,
I had trouble at first with photos too.. I had to download photos off my phone onto computer, then resize them.
I couldn’t post photos off my phone straight onto the forums.
Billy letting himself out the backdoor……
That’s so funny! Let’s himself out!
I’ll try resizing them, thanks for the help and beautiful thread about billy ❤️
lol – no Annmaree I didn’t mean for your d’ter, or I would have asked “is your d’ter a secret” !! LOL – I realised that was the reason for her having a hidden face…
Its just that other Aussie owners have reported not being allowed pet rabbits… maybe in another state though… (or I’ve misunderstood… lol)
Lol, no I thought you ment, is your daughter hiding her face so someone doesn’t recognise Her and find out you have a rabbit…
Pet rabbits are allowed where I am in Aussie..
I’m in love with Billy!!! So sweet!
