So, the other day, I was holding Moose on my lap and he was relaxed and falling asleep and he suddenly peed on me. Like a lot…. Not just a little. Then this evening, my husband was on the floor and he picked up Nutmeg and was petting her and she peed on him. Like a lot. Everything in their life is stable and there’s really nothing new except some outside time now. I’ve also noticed pee spots on the carpet. Thankfully I bought a new carpet cleaner but I’ve used it 4 times in the last couple of weeks. Could this be a urinary tract infection?

        Thanks

        Chrystie

How old are they and are they de-sexed?

It’s not really consistent with UTIs because of the big amount of urine. UTIs rather make them pee often, in odd places and a small amount at a time.
If they’ve been outside and gotten lots of daylight on them that could potentially influence their sex-drive even if they are desexed. One spring my bunny Bam, then neutered for more than a year, started pee- and poop-marking on the sofa again. I blocked it off because he was going up there all the time. But then it subsided and it didn’t repeat itself this spring.

They will be 8 months old on the 23rd and Nutmeg was spayed around 4 months old and Moose was neutered around 5 months old. It’s funny you say that because Nutmeg has started peeing on the couch again too!! Good thing I keep the couch covers on.
