I am taking Coco to the vet for a checkup soon. So, how will the vet examine him ? Basically I am wondering what to expect from the vet’s checkup. Also, Coco gets stressed out when taken to a car and into a different place. Also, he doesn’t really like getting picked up and I am scared that when the vet will pick him up, he will freak out and get a heart attack. I know that this sounds like overreacting but I am nervous whether he will be okay or not. Whenever I try to pick him up, he always runs away and gets scared. So, how do you think he will react when the vet will pick him up ?

If the vets good they will check his breathing, heart rate, teeth, ears, fur for fleas or mites, take a rectal temperature, feel his tummy/organs, and possibly look at nails. Normally blood panels are a good thing to get when they are young so you have something “normal” to go off of when they are older. Vets will also sometimes take a fecal sample and analyze it for any kinds of parasites, but only really if there is a concern. Shots are not an issue because here in the US there aren’t really any available shots for rabbits like there are in UK, Europe and AUS.

I think I got it all but if I seem to be missing anything someone please let me know.

The vet will also weigh the bunny. At my vet’s office, that is done in another room, not in the exam room.

Ahh yes thank you tobyluv, I knew I was forgetting something. Mine weigh in the exam room on a puppy scale. All vets are different.

Thank you so much for your help. Also, do vets have to check the temperature on a rabbit as my rabbit would not like that.
