Do I introduce my new bunnies (2 mini lion lops we’re getting in Sep at 8 was old) to my 2 cats?

The room the bunnies are going in is currently not used/accessed by the cats but obviously I think they’ll be intrigued by the new smells etc. I can just keep them out (the room has a lock) but it’s ground floor in our house so they will be aware. Would it be better to introduce them?

I think it would be a good idea to introduce them but slowly, because sometimes cats and bunnies don’t get along and some do. Introducing them would be a good idea because then u wouldn’t have to worry about them running into eachother or even the cats just obsessing over the new smell and always wanting to go see what it is. My cat first would always run right into my room when I opened the door to see the bunnies. I don’t really trust my cat with those types of things ( she has eaten my gerbil before) so I let the bunny loose held the cat and her paws so she wouldn’t be able to swat at my bunny if she wanted to. And if the cats does not have some sort of surprising reaction like trying to break free of your arms and attack the bunny then u could just maybe put the cat on the ground but loosely hold her just in case, and if that works let your cat go, but maybe have a squirt gun ready or something your cat hates just incase and supervise them maybe for a couple days.

I would be careful, especially given the size of your rabbits. I love cats, and grew up with them, but my current cat is the only one of them whom I would have trusted with a rabbit. She is actually my rabbit’s best friend. It helps that he weights 7.5 lbs, and she only weighs 6.5, and that she is 8+ years his senior – so she’s old. He was also adult size when they met.

Dynamics in animal groups are also different when there’s more than one of a kind. I would be more careful introducing 2 cats than I would be introducing 1.

              Well they’ve met!
Only briefly as the cats actually seem rather scared LOL!! I think they’re confused as to why they’re in their house an why we seem to like them!
The bunnies are in a pen but it’s open at the top and the cats could jump in easily so I’ve stayed with the cats stroking and petting them. I do think it helps that the bunnies don’t have free roam everywhere but I’ll keep you informed of progress……?
