We already have one rabbit.  A mini-rex which we have had for just over 6 months.  It has been such a treat that we are thinking about getting another bunny but I have some questions.

Our bunny is a male and I was thinking of getting another male.  I assume this won’t be a problem.  I was also thinking of getting a netherlands dwarf and I am wondering if the two breeds are compatible.

Will our original bunny share his litter box and food?  Also, our bunny has now learned what he can and cannot chew in the house.  For instance, he used to chew the baseboards downstairs but we now have them taped off and he doesn’t go near them.  He has never been interested in the same baseboards on the other levels of the house but I suppose there is no guarantee with a new bunny.  I don’t necessarily like the idea of doing even more bunnyproofing in the house.

There are no guarantees. Every bunny is going to be different. As far as two males are concerned, I can tell you from experience that they can definitely get along. My boys absolutely adore each other. They have to be neutered though, otherwise their hormones will tell them they need to fight. Personality, not gender, is what plays the biggest role in compatibility.

For habits…… well, that can go both ways. A bunny with good habits might teach a new bunny those good habits. But a new bunny with bad habits might teach someone some new tricks, if you know what I mean.

Bonded pairs often share everything including the litter box.
