Our rabbit, Thumper, had been an animal  shelter rabbit.  Based on rabbits we’ve seen at 4H fairs, we assumed he was a Holland Lop.
However, he’s always weighed about 5 pounds since we’ve had him. From what I’ve seen in books and online, Hollands only get to 4 pounds.
Is that 4 pound number fixed in stone — or is that only for show-quality Hollands?   We think he’s about 4 years old now.
He was about 2 1/2 in the picture.  Can you tell what he is from the picture?

He has the head (rounded, more blocky) and ears (lopped, but shorter) of a Holland. The maximum weight is for what is accepted as “show quality”. There will be individuals that do not fall within those standards. Since he came from a shelter, it’s possible he’s not 100% Holland too.

Thanks.  We suspected he might be part Mini Lop,   or part something else.

Here’s an update of Thumper’s photo at a higher resolution.

My replies weren’t showing up,  so I was going to re-post.   I see them now,  but can’t see how to remove this one.

It’s pretty impossible to tell sometimes. There are youtube videos about it.

Reminds me of my Hershey. He definitely has the Holland “block head” lol…but it’s totally possible he’s not 100% anything, like LBJ said. He’s 200% adorable though.

I had seen that “video” before I posted here — most of the time the one still is shown.  I wished there more than the one picture of the lops they were identifying and for clearer pictures.

                        I also think he’s a holland.

My boy is a mini and looks very different to yours. Henry has a different shaped head and his ears are way longer. Hope that helps.
I would post a pic of my boy if I could, but I can’t sorry….

And don’t feel bad for asking – I asked a couple of weeks ago to be sure my boy was a mini and once given the description I am super sure now.

Sorry to drive you crazy, but I always thought Henry is a french lop.  How much does he weigh?  And how long is he?
