I have done a smaller trip around 1100 miles with my brand new Holland when I was bringing him home. So a 2 day trip in total (obviously this is less than half of your trip)
He did really well. He had constant access to hay and water and we stopped every 4 hours to give him time out of the travel crate (in a larger soft crate) and he would get water in a bowl and pellets in a bowl at this time (no greens as he was only 8 weeks at the time). He always came out and ate and toileted no dramas. We just made sure to stop somewhere relatively quiet and shaded so it wasn’t too hot.
After the first few hours he seemed to relax and nap and sometimes munch on hay while we were driving. I made sure to keep the car nice and cool at all times and I kept his crate covered as well she it was nice a dark.

          Hope this helps

I did a 24 hour road trip from Vermont To Mississippi with my two Holland Lops about 4 years ago. They rode in the back seat of my car in a large travel crate and did wonderfully. They both had harnesses, so we would stop every few hours at a rest area and let them hop around in the grass for a bit while we stretched our legs. I kept hay and a water bottle in the cage with them and they did nibble and drink a bit while on the road. I agree with throwing a blanket or towel over the cage as well – my boys chilled out a lot when I made it nice and dark for them.
