I’ve had my bunny for about a month now. I admit that I wasn’t well versed in properly caring for a rabbit…I feel now like I’m much more capable of taking care of her and addressing any issues she will have. I love her rabbit savvy vet and have put together an emergency kit (I had my vet look over the list of supplies I have in there), however I feel like at any moment something’s going to happen to her. If I don’t see her eat, drink or go to the bathroom in maybe a 30 minute span, I start thinking she’s going into stasis. Last night for instance, she scratched her ear and I had to whip out the otoscope and check to make sure she didn’t have mites. Please tell me the worrying gets better!

I was exactly like you when i got my bunny. I was always worried since i read that rabbits dont show when they’re sick. If you pay close attention to her there are actually a few signs if they get sick. Dont worry too much and yes it definitely gets better. They scratch their ears sometimes so if you think she may have mites she would have crusty ears or losing fur around the ears. Dont worry cause you wont be enjoying her presence and you’ll constantly be sad and worried and wont have fun with her!!

I can very much relate to what you’re saying! Though I still worry about my bun more than I should, I’ve definitely become more relaxed around him. The long you have your bun, the better you’ll get to know her, and it will be easier to detect when something is wrong.

I totally agree with Reem and HereComesTheBun. You learn what is normal for your bunny, her habits and ways. That helps you see when there is sth that’s not right. But there are still always some things that make your heart leap a little, f ex I always want to poke my bunnies when they’ve flopped into the dead-bunny-position.

I think most of us bunny Moms and Dads tend to be a bit paranoid. It definitely helps to know your bunny. Bunnies don’t just suddenly change their behavior for no reason so when a bunny you know very well seems “off” your bunny Mom (or Dad) intuition will kick in.

While you get to know your bun, as long as bun is eating, pooping lots and there is wet litter and hopping around, try not to worry.

Me too, I hate it. Especially right now, he’s shedding, and I think he had some sort of gut slowdown for some reason, and pooping a lot of fur. Now, he’s back to pooping better, but I still worry when he goes the entire night without pooping, even though it’s happened quite a few times before. He didn’t poop at all last night, and even though he has a perfect appetite, I still came home from work convinced I was going to see a dead bunny.
