Hey everyone, I’ve got another issue with Gus and his poor health. It just breaks my heart because he is so little and I just worry so much when he’s not feeling well. He’s has a lot of health issues in his life, but most recently its been the Rabbit Syphillus. It’s been cleared up for about a month now, but we just got another bun and bonded them, and I believe the stress caused a reoccurance of the Syphillus. A few months back we were trating it, and he was getting shots regualrly between his shoulder blades and a scab appeared. It looked pretty painful and our vet said it was just irritation manifesting from all the injections to kill the Syphillus, but the scab has reappeared after only two injections this time around and he is now having hair loss on his back.  I did groom him two days ago with a hairbuster, and I’ve read that sometimes they can shed a lot more when you groom them like that, and I probably spent too much time on his back. so i’m not sure if the hair loss has anything to do with the scab, or if it’s something else. Also, one of his eyes has been very watery. No pus. It’s been off and on since sunday. We treated it with a warm compress and it seemed to help a lot, and today it’s back. He is only two pounds, 1.5 years old and has been to the vet over thirty times. Its definitely an issue with the breeder being careless. We will never go through one again. We just adopted our other bun from a shelter. Please help, I’m always so upset and worried sick when he’s not feeling well.

          Firstly, he is adorable!

I’m sorry you’ve been facing so many health issues with him.

Did he have penicillin g shots for the rabbit syphillis?

Has he had any vaccinations recently?

Could his new mate have mounted him and pulled for from the area?

Another consideration is furmite, though it doesn’t look typical of this. It can come up though during times of stress.

Went to the vet, and they sent us home with baytril, it looks like he might have an upper respiratory infection and which is causing the watery eye, as well as irritation from the pen g shots he was getting regualrly. Thanks for your response, and sorry for being so panicky!
