Voodoo has to go to the vet every 4-6 weeks and get her teeth trimmed. Last few time the vet has advised for Voodoo to get all four front teeth removed  I wasn’t comfortable with doing the surgery unto I did all the research I could on this.Unfortunately, she has a nasty infection now. The vet took a culture of it and confirmed it is Bordetella  Now there is no postponing the teeth extraction; she’s on Baytril (antibiotic) for the next 6 weeks or until she is stable enough for surgery.

My question would be to anyone who has dealt with this before; how did your bunny deal with Bordetella? Is this something I should worried about her passing onto my dogs or me? Does you bunny have all their teeth? Is there anything different I should be doing?

I don’t know anything about Bordetella, but I am familiar with rabbits that have had their front teeth extracted. There is a rabbit at the sanctuary where I volunteer who had his front teeth removed several years ago and he gets along just fine. You will need to chop your rabbit’s veggies into small pieces, especially hard things like carrots or broccoli. I hope that the Bordetella will be cleared up soon and that Voodoo will do well with her surgery.

Thank you tobyluv! I hope it does too but from what I’ve read, it might stay with her forever
