I am somewhat new to rabbits, and my head begins to spin whenever I try to figure out what the heck color anything is. So instead of googling and searching and remaining in my state of confusion, I decided to join this rabbit community, post a forum, and let you all tell me. The two rabbits are from my buck who is a Rex (broken Sable) and my doe who is a  Silver Fox (although I think she has a little NZW in her too). They started out their young bunny lives grey and seem to be lightening as they get older. And lately I have been noticing a tan/brown/rufus/orangeish color surfacing, although the tips remain fairly grey. I will attach pictures.

Any help on their color would be appreciated.

          Hi lolo
I recommend you look up Rabbits Online forum and ask there. There is a specific sub-forum called The Rabbitry. It likely has more experienced people to answer your question. Binky Bunny’s focus is house rabbits and their care.

Thank you! I will go look there. 🙂

              You’re welcome.

I should have asked before…do the bunnies have rest pads in the cages for their feet? Wire can do some damage, especially to Rexes.

Yes, I wouldn’t be able to take a good guess without doing some research on color genetics myself. I think Jerseygirl gave a good suggestion. They probably have members there that could look at your bunny and instantly know what color he is.

Hmm, he looks a little chinchilla-ish, I suppose. But I’m sure that’s not right. LOL

The Rex looks like a broken lilac and the other one is an agouti. The Rex seems to have an agouti like tail.

Thank you all! I appreciate the input!

To the question about the rest pads for their feet, yes I have rest pads for my rex bunnies. I also frequently check their feet. It is a definite down side to the breed, and I have been very careful in my breeding program to breed that trait out, and have been successful. So I guess when buying a rex, make sure it comes from a breeder who cares about feet more than simply looks or color, because it can be responsibly bred out of a line of rabbits.

Again, thanks! You all are kind to new comers. I am thinking that lilac/broken lilac might be right.

Lolo, I just want to say that discussions about intentional breeding are prohibited here. You are very welcome to discuss other things, like bunny colors and diet and care, behavioral issues etc or to just chat in the Lounge, but please avoid the subject of intentional breeding.
