        hi everyone
okay so I have one of those cages where you open it from the top and can reach in to feed the bun and stuff like that. so long story short kinda, when we were putting mocha back into her cage, she like panicked and slipped out of our hands and hit her head on the cage.
I’m really worried about her because I’m scared that she might have some sort of head trauma or something. at the moment she is acting okay and hopping around and nibbling on hay. I gave her a piece of banana and she ate some of it too. but I know that rabbit tend to hide illnesses or injuries so I’m very worried that she might actually be hurt but not showing it.
my parents are kind of reluctant on vet trips because they are quite expensive. but I’m very worried about my bun. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or know of any symptoms I should be aware of in case she is actually hurt.
        thank you

You have to keep an eye on her. Did she hit her head hard? Like, did she fall on her head from a height or did she just bump her head into the cage? How did she seem the first moments after the hit?
That she’s eating is great, of course. Have you been able to feel her head for tender spots?

Obviously keep an eye on her but I just wanted to let you know that the exact same thing happened to me with Bramble ages ago and he was absolutely fine. I was a bit scared to pick him up for a while after it mind you but I just kept a good eye on him and he was fine, hopefully Mocha will be too.

i couldn’t feel any tender spots on her head so I think that’s good
she didn’t fall on her head but hit her head and then fell into the cage
i think it was about a 39 cm or so fall
she’s moving around fine and all but the thing that’s worrying the most right now is that her litter box is mostly empty
there’s very few poops and the ones that are there are very small and irregular shaped there is some urine but not as much as before it’s been about 6 hours and I’m really worried

Bunnies can have surprisingly hard heads, for being as fragile as they are. Keep an eye on her. Sometimes they can be hurt and try to hide it. If it wasn’t very far and she just bonked her head as she was falling, then she is more than likely okay. It doesn’t hurt to be cautious though.

                    thanks for reassurance!
she began popping normally after a while I think it was just a bit of shock that caused her to seem out of it a bit
