Okay so this is my question:

Is it okay for my dog (that was treated with frontline flea and tick treatment by the vets) to have access to my bedroom? (That is where Moxie’s home base and out of cage time is) My dog has always slept in my bed with me but I don’t want to put Moxie’s health at risk with my dog laying on my blankets and then Moxie coming on the blankets later.

So what do you all think, will my dog be fine sleeping in my room or am I going to have to have her sleep elsewhere for the next few days? (So the meds will have plenty of time to dry)

Any advice would be very much appreciated! (And I’d appreciate some answers soon as I’m getting ready to head off to bed lol!)

(forgot to ad that there will be no direct contact between the two)

        Thanks,

        MoxieMeadows

Hmm, I would think that the risk would be relatively low if there was no direct contact. But I would still be paranoid and want the frontline to be dry first.

I agree, I would wait till it’s dry. Possibly put a throw rug on the bed for your dog and take it off the bed when Moxie is up there.

Uhhh I might wait longer-just to be safe-it seems frontline is very toxic to rabbits

I’d wait 48 h’s, that’s the time you should wait until your dog gets to go swimming after application of Frontline. That probably means it’s dry by then.

In future you could ask the vet about other flea/tick treatments like Bayvantix or Ex-spot. Those have permethrin, which is not considered bunny-safe but not at all as toxic as Frontline is to bunnies. Imo it’s much more efficient at keeping ticks at bay, fipronil (Frontline) has very little deterring effect, it kills only ticks at contact with the treated skin, so ticks will still climb on to your dog’s fur and may get into your house that way. I use Bayvantix on my dog, we’ve crazy many ticks here and a whole menu of tick-borne diseases.

Orrrrr you could just use the Revolution for dogs. It comes with cannex wormers. I just buy the big ampules of Revoltion put it into a vial and measure the doses by weight for cats and bunnies.

Thanks for all of the input everybody.

And Yeah I usually use revolution on my dog as well, but this was the only thing my vets had in stock and I had seen a couple fleas on Snickers and you don’t know the terror when Moxie catches and gets fleas in all that fur  so I was desperate to get that taken care of.

But I’ve been very careful, washing my hands before interacting with Moxie and I used gloves to get Moxie’s food prepared yesterday just in case, although I hadn’t gone near her wet spot.
