        Hello all,
My bunny Emilio lives indoor with us, free range.
He is acting weird tonight, he’s not playful and he’s not eating. He just pooped though (normal poops)
He lays down but only for a few seconds, then he sits again.
        He seems in discomfort.
Could it be a start of gi stasis even if he pooped?
I know him well and he’s not himself tonight.
He is back in his litter box now

It sounds like stomach trouble. It can be gas even if he pooped and it can be the beginning of stasis. You can try and give him a gentle tummy massage, it may help the gas escape. Elevate his rear end slightly. If you don’t see improvement or if he gets worse contact a vet. wl he eat a treat if you give him one?

It is def stomach trouble. I’m giving him belly massage now as much as he let me.
He doesn’t want his favourite treat.
Usually the belly massage works very well with Emilio, i hope to get results this time too. It’s late night here, i’ll bring him to the vet as soon as they open if he doesn’t get better.
I can’t tell what happened as he was eating lots of hay, fresh veggies and his usual pellets, nothing has changed.

Update: Emilio now lets me massage his belly. His tommy is gurgling which should be a good sign but still no pooping.
              He drank some water.
Should i keep going with the massage? Is the gurgling a good sign?

Gurgling generally means gas. Keeping up the massage is good, because the gas needs to get out. It’s a good sign because it’s not stasis (in stasis there are no sound at all because the intestines are completely still.), but it is probably painful for your bun.

If you have access to simethicone (baby gas drops) you can give him that. Great that he drank water!! Hopefully the gas will come out soon. There is often a little splurt of runny stools after, but that’s normal.

If stomach issues recurr often with your bun you should ask your vet to have a look at his teeth. Molar spurs are often the underlying reason for tummy trouble.

now i’m getting really worried, the vet opens in an hour and I’ll bring him in.
Emilio pooped a little bit during the night but he won’t touch any food. He’s been drinking a lot though. This morning i gave him some juice in his water and he loved it.
I don’t understand if he’s grinding his teeth because he is in pain from the gas or if the problem is the teeth in the first place.
                  Any clues?

I’m rather late on this, but tooth-grinding would most likely be from acute pain. How are things now? ((((((((((Emilio)))))))))

                      Hi Bam,
Emilio is in hospital since this morning and staying overnight. He had x-rays, he is not blocked but he has a very bloated belly and he is not eating yet. He’s been on drip and medications, he’s been there for 10 hours now. They are hoping for the poops to come in the next 12 hours (overnight)
Also his glucose level was high.
I’m so worried, it will be another long night for me
I’m also upset because they don’t have a 24hours nurse at the hospital, he will be alone until 8am tomorrow, poor bun.
Fingers crossed he gets better overnight.
