We adopted (or rescued depending on how you look at it) Ron on Saturday and still cant come up with a new name for him so I thought I would ask you guys for your help. We already have a bunny called Bramble and I just don’t think Bramble and Ron go together.

I will tell you a bit about Ron, it might help with ideas. He is a good bit bigger than Bramble and around a year older. He is a very calm bunny, like ridiculously calm not phased at all by me going into his old house, not at all bothered about being picked up or petted by strangers and settled into our house almost instantly – also there are roadworks going on right outside my window and he isn’t even flinching at the noise so a very laid back bunny. so far the only thing he seems to dislike is the car.

We think he is a small palomino, but still a big bunny. Apparently they are known for their calm nature and Ron certainly fits that. He is also very affectionate with us and Bramble and has settled in well as the submissive part of the pair.

I am having issues with uploading photos so the only ones I have are the ones when I first brought him home and had to put him in Bramble’s old baby cage because the one he came with was awful and the one I took of him and Bramble together so I will try to attach those.

Only these two will upload. The top one is when Ron first came home (he looks a little bemused doesn’t he?) and the second one is Ron grooming Bramble, you can see how much bigger he is, he is also a little overweight but we can deal with that.

FWIW, I don’t think he looks overweight.
He appears normal for type of bunny his is.
Looks like they’re doing well together!!

The vet recons he is just a little overweight, not too much to worry about but he seems to be carrying it around his chin which might be why his bum was so poorly groomed if he cant reach it. He weighed in at just under 3 and a half kilos and the vet recons he should maybe be around three or just under. I have to say though Bramble is a little over 2 kilos and the vet says that’s a healthy weight for him and Ron is so much bigger than Bramble, I cant imagine him being healthy at anything less than three kilos myself. He does look a little overweight when he is lying down, but I definitely don’t think its bad. we are just going to continue with his diet switching/veggie adding and see what happens with his weight then. Bramble has the vet in about six weeks for a teeth check so I will take Ron along for a weight check and see what they say then. I think once he has a decent diet any extra weight that is there will probably sort itself out.

                Barney.
I like Rowan a lot though. Rowan-berries are a big favorite with my buns.

                  He looks like a Finnegan.

Ok I was wrong, he is scared of something – Freddie the hamster! This massive (in comparison) rabbit that appears scared of absolutely nothing and has made friends with a rabbit he only just met on Sunday in just one day appears to be terrified of poor Freddie. Which is a bit of a shame because Bramble and Freddie quite like each other, even if they still haven’t quite figured out what each other actually does yet. They often sniff each other and Bramble sometimes chases Freddie in his ball, poor Ron was absolutely terrified when he heard Freddie making a noise earlier, he turned and looked at him then ran off terrified hiding in a corner.

Bam, I quite like Bramble and Barney – that might work

LBJ: I just don’t see Finnegan and Bramble working

                    MissGabster: Rowan could also work.

                      Congrats!!!

How about “Brawn” since he’s so big and it’s similar to his name now? And it has the whole B and R thing going on like Bramble. Or Brawny.

Rowan is perfect because rowan is also a berry-producing shrub that is native to Britain, just like bramble. See? The names go together so well. They’re a matching set. Plus, it starts with an R. Like Ron, but shrubbified. It’s like a nod to the past, whilst embracing a whole new future.

                          Bramble & Rowan…Rowan & Bramble.

                          ~~Team Rowan~~

                              Or Finnegan.

I think Bramble and Finn has a great ring to it.

well, I’ve been considering this for many hours now and I vote for Rowan or Brawny.

Rowan because it has a bunny-safe berries as bramble does, and Brawny because it goes so well with Bramble + the Brawny-guy looks so healthy and out-doorsy =)

                                      I like Rowan also.

                                      Other plant based names:
                                      Bearberry
                                      Huckleberry
                                      Tarragon
                                      Hawthorn
                                      Basil

Birke – related to Birch (can be spelt Burke).

                                      Other non plant ones:
                                      Rupert (actor who played Ron)
                                      Wilbur
                                      Bernard
                                      Bruce or Brucie
I’d be tempted to just call him Bear. : )

Or how about Boris or Becker? He had reddish hair didn’t he?

Other names that relate to red:
Flynn, Rory, Rowan (again), Roy, Rubeus, Rufus, Russell.

Bramble and Hawthorn would be amazing, but I think Hawthorn might be a bit of a mouthful for the poor guy. I think I’ll vote for Rowan or Brawny, because, to copycat bam, BRAMBLE AND BRAWNY!

Now you’re making this so difficult by dividing my favorite names up between two teams =(

I will have to consider this during the day. Paper towels may not be cute but I can’t resist the Brawny-man =)
Kirstyol, you’ll have to try the names out on new guy and see what he himself has to “say”. Last time we tried naming a bunny here it turned out the bunny himself chose an altogether different name than the ones we were suggesting. That’s how things are with bunnies, they are very strong-willed =)

Invalid argument LLH because Brawn sounds way more like like Ron. And Brawny and Bramble has an excellent ring to it. Mwhahahaha!
