I’m currently freaking out because my rabbit Luna ate a piece of Kleenex tissue with Aloe lotion..I was using my hand to get some hair off of her, then I dried my hand with the tissue and as I was doing that she yanked it out of my hand and bit off one of the corners, eating it. I took it away from her but now I feel terrible because one of the ingredients is Mineral Oil and I read it can be toxic

The piece she got was about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide.
It’s been 2 hours and she had celery, hay and some food. She’s acting completely fine and running around but I’m afraid the piece of tissue will damage her digestive system.

What you do is monitor her and try to get her to eat hay and drink water. You can change litter in the litter box so you can keep track of the amount and size of poops. Poops should not decrease in size. If there’s no poop in 12 hs, contact a vet. Sooner if she shows signs of pain and lethargy or outright poisoning like drooling etc. You can give her a gentle tummy massage to help things move along in the intestines. I always give simethicone (baby gas drops), it’s bunny safe and may help if there’s gas.
Bunnies have a tendency to eat stuff they shouldn’t. Hopefully her stomach can break this piece of tissue down, but you need to keep an eye.

My guess is there isn’t a lot of aloe or mineral oil in the lotion in tissues, so I would be more worried about the tissue itself. But like Bam said, all you can do is watch her poop and make sure she’s eating hay and drinking water to move things through. There are stories of bunnies eating all sorts of inappropriate things and they somehow make it through their system.

Dose is everything when it comes to toxins. One corner of a tissue with a bit of lotion in it isn’t like drinking a bottle of mineral oil.

People actually used to use mineral oil as a laxative, and even though it was a very bad idea, most of them survived the experience.

Thank you guys! She’s absolutely fine now, she pooped and they were normal color/size and she has her usual appetite (she’s eating her food right now). So the tissue must’ve had no bad effect, I was just really scared since she never ate anything like that before. I’ll definitely be more careful and keep tissues away from her.
