So once we move into our new home I’m putting together a good dog and bunny first aid kit. What does everyone keep on hand to have in an emergency? I have been very fortunate to not have any issues with Binks but I want to be prepared just in case

Critical care is a must! It’s also a good idea to keep a large oral syringe so you can feed it to your bun if needed.
I also keep a bottle of baby gas drops (simethicone). They’re safe for bunnies and can help alleviate discomfort. Follow the weight directions on the bottle.

Any unused vet medicine. Painkillers and things to help the bowel move for emergencies. I would’t advise using anything else without a vet’s recommendation.

I should also have gauze and scissors, but they’re in my human first aid kit so I haven’t bothered yet.

          I also need to get:

Baby food or canned pumpkin (can be force fed to bun who isn’t eating)
Cornstarch/flour/styptic powder (to stop bleeding if they break a nail)

I keep everything in a metal lunch box next to all the other bunny stuff so it’s easy to find.

I have a tin box on the shelf above all the pet food that has styptic powder, neosporin, small squares of gauze, scissors, q-tips, cotton balls, betadine, a medicine dropper, and a couple of microfiber wash cloths…it’s also where I keep the refresher spray and pet wipes, nail clippers and bunny brush.

Thanks! I have CC and a syringe but obviously need to expand to more things. I have betadine and some other stuff for the pups but I will make a good bunny one soon. I like the idea of a lunch box and keep it in bunny room

I always make sure to have simethicone (baby gas drops). Has helped me out so many times, it’s a must have.

Here’s what I have in mine:

-Simethicone (gas drops) – for gas. This stuff is (literally) a lifesaver.
-Digital thermometer and Vaseline – for checking anal temperature. Very important during intestinal episodes.
                  -1 mL syringe for medicines.
-Unflavored, sweetened Pedialyte – for when they’re not eating properly.
-Bag balm – for dry skin/bald spots.
-Small heat/ice pack – for warm weather or gas episodes.
-Bleeding stopping bandage pads – never needed these, but I think they’re good to have.
                  -Saline eye drops
-Critical Care fine mix – for force feeding.
-60 ml feeding syringe – for force feeding.

                    Thanks LPT and fluffy bunny!
I think I’ll be all prepared once I get everything together!

I have simethicone, liquid feed, painkillers and a ton of syringes. We’ve picked up apple juice when Mr Roger has needed it. We don’t have any baby food (yet).

I have a big first aid kit. Yay being a paranoid bunny mama!

baby gas pills, baby advil, 2 oral syringes ((one small for Speckles, and a large for Chom)), eye wash ((with as few chemicals in it as possible)), varying bandage sizes (nonstick), medical tape, thermometer ((found a baby one that does rectal readings and is digital!)), vaseline, cornstarch, tweezers, ivermectin oral dose, triple antibiotic, rash cream, unopened q-tips, rubbing alcohol ((to steralize)), peroxide, medical wrap, bandages, instant cold pack, heating packs ((like what hunters use to keep their hands warm, along with a thick dish towel to put between the pack and bunny’s skin)), and eyedroppers.

I do need to pick up some critical care for it, but I’m pretty sure I’m well stocked.

Wow! That’s a lot of stuff. I have some sticking up to do! How much baby Advil do you give a bunny?

Vet wrap and neosporin, critical care, (like others have said, any unused medication! When I phone about something my vet always asks what I have at home already), sub q fluids and syringes and needles, and syringes for force feeding. Bag balm definitely! I also have hot water bottles, very useful for when Rupert is done his dental, he’s always chilly while the anestetic wears off. I also have metacam and I can’t recall the name but it’s a stasis medication. I actually need to get my vet to get me some more metacam-between clumsy dogs and the bunnies we use it quite a bit. Thermometer (I label with a marker on who’s thermometer is who!) and I have one of those otoscopes which is ok useful, and flashlights. Keeping in mind my first aid kit has items that are also for us and the dogs! Don’t forget yourself or you’ll be bandaging your own booboos with ‘no chew’ vet wrap like me!

I have simethicone, CC, metacam, ranitidine, polymyxin B +cortisone cream, a few syringes, saline eye drops.
I wouldn’t dare go without simethicone (baby gas drops).

For Chom I’ll use about 1 tab, simply because of his weight. ((18 lbs)) My old vet approved of that.

For speckles, in all her 5 pound glory gets a quarter of one tab, if it is needed.

Remember for asperin, onlyif your bun is in pain and your vet approves. You dissolve it in water and feed through a syringe. I’ve found that using a juice instead of water does work a little better since the taste is more bearable.

Flemish Giant. He is still my tiny bunny muffin. Or better known… My Fattycakes.

Oh gods no he doesn’t! We once had a playdate with a Netherland Dwarf. His head was the size of Chom’s tail and it was precious.
