I think i’ve raised a monster. Meeko is 4 months now, and I can’t eat anything while she’s out without her like legit hounding me, crawling ALL over (her claws are sharp as heck mind you, she wont let me clip) if i move my head she’ll follow it, it’s like she goes crazy wild. How do I fix this?

Also, she still is peeing and pooping outside of the cage, I dont notice the pee as much (i assume because it’s hidden, found some under her basket, and once she did it on the couch, when will she be potty trained?

Also also.. she wont let me brush or clip her fur for longer than a couple seconds, it needs both, and claws clipped too. How do I get this done, grr! She kicks and kicks and I dont want her hurting her self.

Other than this, she’s still adorable, does sometimes chew on things she isn’t supposed to and eats the ficus still (insert mad face), but she’s adorable and friendly for the most part. I’m hoping I can get the money to spay her by september/october when she’s around 6 months.

Hello – by the sounds of things you just have a young energetic bunny on your hands! As far as the food thing goes you could try putting her away while you eat or when you are eating, get her a treat to eat too? I have these little hay cubes I bought from pets at home that the bunnies take a while to eat.

Have you been taking many steps for the litter training process? I found with Belle that it was easier to litter train her if she had less space to be in. Then the better at litter training she got, the more space she was allowed to explore. I also had more than one litter tray, one in her cage and one in the space she was exploring. I think soaking up the pee with some toilet roll and placing it in the litter tray helps – it makes the scent draw them into the litter tray and eventually teaches them to go in there. What kind of litter are you using? Does she use her litter tray at all?

For brushing, if she won’t let you brush her try wetting your hands and running them over her, it should take some fur off. I’ve heard this works for stubborn bunnies. By the looks of your picture though she is a long hair, so you’ll need to get her accustomed to the brush as it will be important to brush out any tangles. Belle doesn’t particularly like being brushed, but she will let me as long as I pet her head at the same time – so one hand pets the head, the other brushes the body.

For nails I know some people take their bunny to the vet – I have a rescue bunny that won’t let me touch her, so I think that will be my only option for her. For Belle I can’t trim them when she is just sitting there so I need to pick her up and put her on her back. I don’t like doing it as I know it trances her, but it is the most risk free option for her and allows me to go through all of her nails quickly and have her back on all fours in a couple of minutes.

I seem to remember Belle being a little angel and then at about four months she turned into a little monster bun and decided it would be a good time to get into everything she shouldn’t. Think of it as just training them again – it’s sort of like their adolescent stage. If you plan to spay her soon that should really help too. Belle is three now and much more settled, she hasn’t been spayed (I put it off and put it off) but I’m going to spay her soon now I have my other bunny – but it just shows you that the naughty behaviours can be trained out again!

Good luck – and that picture is super cute! Love little bunny feet!

She’s hard to catch to put back in. She’ll run somewhere I can’t reach her, ha ha. She eats fast too. Also, I don’t like to keep her in her cage 24/7, It can’t be very good for her, it’s a dog kennel, so no room to run around like she does out in the living room, she goes poo and pee in her cage litter box (filled with paper towel on the bottom and aspen on the top, plus a grate to prevent dirty feets!) We use a corner litter tray, the ‘jumbo’ size. She still poops and pees in her cage on the floor also for some where. She’s not a very clean bunny that way ha ha. I’ve gotten a few times to brush her, her top is smooth, long but not fluffy but her sides face everywhere elses but the top of her back is fluffy with the wooly type fur, I don’t know why it’s like that ha ha, so I try to brush it. I really need to trim her butt area but that is IMPOSSIBLE. I can’t even flip her over, she wont let me get that far, and when I do she is never tranced she always moves within seconds. Adolescent stage.. arg.. that would explain the twice peeing on the couch issue we have encountered recently, ah teenagers.

That corner box could be a BIG part of the problem. Even small rabbits don’t like them usually. Mine used his for a bed when he was little. Getting a bigger litterbox might be easier, and having hay available in front of her box will probably encourage her to hang out in the litterbox and do her business, since a lot of their business is done while they’re eating.

My bun wont let us eat if shes out. While anyone is eating she jumps on the couch even though we give her lettuce while we’re eating , she just wants to know what we’re eating and wants to have some. Try to put her favorite treat in the cage and quickly lock her up while you’re eating.

My rabbit has a similar coat and hates grooming as well. Over time, we’ve gotten better at it, just because I’ve tried it more frequently. I had only been brushing him maybe once a week, and then decided to try to do it daily so that I could get him on a schedule. He hates the nail clipping too, so I tried to start touching his feet more often to get him used to it, normally during the groom sessions. He doesn’t quite enjoy it, but he’ll sit for it and be good. Plus, if you get to it daily, even if it’s quick, you’ve got less tangles to manage.
