        Hi All,

At the end of August I will be moving to the Netherlands (right now I live in the DC area) and I’ve been really struggling to figure out the way to proceed regarding my rabbit, Catherine. She is wonderful, sassy bunny and I would hate to part with her. However, a move to the Netherlands would be a lot of stress on her and I don’t even know if I would be able to have her in the place where I will be living. Furthermore, I am a musician and I will probably have to travel a lot for gigs. The fact is, I don’t really know what my life will be like when I move and I don’t know if I will actually be able to devote the time to her that she needs. So, I’m trying to see if I can find a good home for her where she would be happier than if I took her with me. Does anyone have suggestions or advice in this matter? I really want to do what’s best for her.

        Thank you!
        Ben

I would find and talk with rabbit rescues in your area. (If just googling hasn’t been helpful for you searching for rescues in your area through houserabbitsociety is helpful.) The people in charge of the rescues are so well informed about proper rabbit care and give them so much love until the rabbits can find new homes. I would see if one of these rescues would be willing to take your bunny that is if you couldn’t find someone to rehome her to before you had to make the move.

It is a very hard decision to make, it might be better for her if you got her a new home here in the US. I would lean towards rehoming her if she is going to have to spend a long time in a quarantine facility designed mostly for cats and dogs. Can you call someone at the Netherlands equivalent to the Department of Agriculture to find out.
