Why don’t you feel comfortable having a spay done?

Spays on such small animals are just scary … And I have anxiety … I wasn’t very comfortable with Tenzins neuter. But that I knew was low risk…

I guess if it were me and it turned out to be an unspayed female, I would do my research to find the best rabbit savvy vet in the area and get her fixed. It’s in her best interest so that she can live the happiest, healthiest life possible. (if she/he is a she!)

Well I already know the best rabbit vets in the area and Tenzins vet is experienced as well. I have 3 vets I can see. Well one is too far but two are local. You get to know vets well when you have rats, so they were the first ones i went to when it was time to get Tenzin neutered.

I am triple checking that this boy is a boy … I would think that since I did call the vet they used and they confirmed them having a male neutered of his size and age last year I should be fine. But like I said I am anxious …

Do the records say what color the rabbit was? His name? I can’t imagine that these people just so happened to have a different, but similar rabbit neutered and not this one.

The vet you are taking him to will be checking for signs that he is indeed a neutered male, correct?

They said it was a dutch bunny named Oreo which is what he seems to be and the name they gave me

And yes I plan to have them determine gender

If you’re not 100% sure it’s a female, just relax and take a deep breath It looks like it’s much more likely that it’s an already neutered male, and there is absolutely no reason for you to wig out yet about it I am a lot like you and IMMEDIATELY go worse case scenario, but so far the facts seem to be pointing towards the fact that it’s an already neutered male, so no reason to panic yet…and even if it turns out to be a female and she needs to be spayed, from what I’m seeing when I googled spay mortality rates in females, it’s a maybe 1 in 50 chance, which while not great odds aren’t terrible Until you’ve talked to the vet I would just relax and assume that it’s a male until told otherwise

Thanks. If he is a she … it’s just a situation I never wanted.

I’m very confused as to the vet – did you not give them the name of the current owner to confirm the neuter?

Yes I did, the name of the bunny, the owner, the breed and weight all sound like my bun, the age and when it was performed also sound like him. But I also don’t trust people. And I always err on the side of caution
