Our family went away overnight and had someone staying here with our 3 buns. Our youngest, Adaggio, has a very swollen penis. It was not like this 24 hours ago and according to the person that stayed here, nothing happened nor has he been acting weird or funny. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain. He is behaving normally with normal litter box habits. He is eating and drinking. He is post neuter 3 weeks and did not have any complications and we have not introduced anything new to the environment nor diet. Should I take him to the vet today or wait until tomorrow?

Sometimes after a neuter there is some swelling of fluids in their genital area. Press a warm compress to it, call your vet, and go from there

            Even 3 weeks later?

Are the bunnies together? Could he have been humping someone’s face and got bitten?

Are you sure it’s not an erection? Silly question I know but it’s a possibility

No, Adaggio is separated from the other two as the other two are bonded siblings from the same litter and have not accepted Adaggio yet.

If it’s an errection someone slipped him Viagra because it’s been all day.

I think you should give your vet a call. It doesn’t seem normal at all three weeks post-neuter.

I agree, especially if this has been going on all day.

Since I have another male bunny, Moose, that is neutered, I decided to compare their parts and Adaggio’s is a good 3Xs larger. All you have to do is pick A up and cradle him on his back like a baby and his little pink thing I’d staring at you. That’s definitely not same for M and the neuters were done by the same vet. So, we have a call into our vet.
Thank you everyone for the helpful input. I tend to be a bit of a nervous Nancy

It turns out that one of the other two bunnies managed to bite Adaggio’s little man parts during a scuffle. The vet said that this is a fairly common thing that bunnies that are not bonded will do……… Go for the junk!! The vet put him on antibiotics and some pain meds.
Thank you all for your quick response and help!!

                              Ouch, poor little Adaggio =(

It is common that they go for the man-bits of another rabbit and it can result in very serious injuries. If you want to bond these bunnies you should keep them separated for now and then start a bonding-process in a few weeks’ time. You can make a bonding-thread for them so you can get help from members along the way.

‘m glad he’s getting meds now. ((((((((Adaggio)))))))

That’s what the vet said as well, that it’s common. I had never heard that from anyone so didn’t even realize that could be an issue.
We will continue to keep them separate for awhile. I’m too nervous that someone is going to get seriously hurt.
Thank you so much for your help.
