Back again for more bun advice! So my bunnies Scamper and Millie have made a lot of progress in the bonding but what they’re doing now and have been doing for the past few sessions is having a little standoff. Both bow their heads and they’ll sit like that perhaps for over an hour and a half. Scamper tries to push his head under hers and a lot of times Millie will start nipping him (not to fight him more like “hey! Groom me!!!”) But neither will really groom the other.

We’ve tried smushing the banana on Millie’s head and Scamper LOVES banana. It still didn’t work. Does anyone have any other advice for this situation where they are not at all being aggressive but they are both just demanding grooms from the other while the other won’t comply?

So new update, scamper will mount millie for a bit which she allows, then bow his head for grooms but she still refuses. After a while of the “standoff” scamper just flops on her lol. I’ve read a lot on other forums of peoples’ whose bonded bunnies don’t really groom each other too much but I’m left here to wonder how??! Is the refusing to groom hurdle one they will pass, maybe even without other grooming the other? Right now it really seems like dominance issues, their figuring it out seems to lead to fighting

How long since you started bonding? Sounds like they are working out who is going to be head bun. They probably just need more time.
