So I want to make Si a digging box, he has been doing a little digging in some blankets/towels I have out for him and a few times on the tile floor haha.

Does anyone have pictures of dig boxes they made for their buns? Just wanted to get some ideas

I’ll take a pic of Toby’s dig box when I get home…it’s nothing fancy, but he loves it. It’s just a copy paper box with an old blanket or towel and a bunch of toys thrown in. Toilet paper tubes, apple sticks, a wicker ball, some shredded paper, and I’ll toss a few treats in it at night for him to dig for. I pull the blanket/towel out every day or two and swap it for a new one, just in case he felt the urge to go potty on it, lol. And he gets a new paper box once a week when I deep clean his corner every weekend…I snag all the paper boxes from work, so there’s a giant stack of them in my laundry room, LOL

Can’t wait to see what other people do though!

That sounds fun! Im sure Si would love something like that!

How do you set it up so he can get in/out? Im sure pictures will answer the Q anyways

I forgot to take a picture because I’m a horrible person, LOL!

But it doesn’t have a lid on it, so he can just hop in and out. I used to have a big plastic tub for him to dig in, and I just used a box cutter to cut a big bun-sized hole in the side of it for him to get in and out of. But he didn’t dig in that box, he just pulled all the stuff out and made a mess. I’m not sure why, as it had all the same exact stuff in it, but for some reason he didn’t like digging in the box with the lid on it.

I’m not sure I’ve got any pictures of the one we made for Mr Roger but the cardboard castle that Pets at Home sold was amazing for him. I put tons of paper down and some thick phone books.

When it wore out I made a castle from an enormous box on the cheap, using shoe laces to tie it together, I put it inside the cage base (he didn’t need the top part) to contain the mess but I expect any box would do. I put a blanket over the top and cut doors into the sides. It was soooo unsightly but he loved it. Mr Roger would only dig in boxes with lids.

He loved this ‘dig box’ from pets at home (http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/guinea-pig-toys/large-vegetable-play-patch?pageSize=44&orderBy=1#) but would only use it if it was inside his castle.

I also put dog beds under wooden hidey holes for him and he’d dig those. I tried to make open topped boxes with items in but he wasn’t interested.

This should be a link to a video of Rucy using a diggy box. If it doesn’t work, go to the nav. bar above, click Videos, go to YouTube, and scroll down to this one. It’s adorable.

I need some ideas to,put in my bunny’s box. Right now it’s an empty cardboard box. I feel bad. I had newspaper but it kept getting in her water dish. I don’t want something that is going to make a mess. Any ideas?
