Poor Wooly. He has this bald patch on his shoulder and I’m pretty sure it was Leopold (humping). I found a couple of chunks of fur awhile back and it looked like they had been pulled out. This isn’t the first time this has happened and the vet is aware of it.

It seems to occur at night because I will find the evidence in the morning when I “wake them up”. Is there any way to discourage this? I feel so bad for Wooly, but I don’t know how to get Leopold to stop.

They get along just fine otherwise. Leopold will lovingly groom Wooly’s face and cuddle with him. Go figure.

Would two food bowls help? They share a food bowl right now and they just take turns shoving their faces in there. There will be a little bit of pushing and shoving, but nothing serious.

The M&Ms each have their own pellet bowls, and whoever finishes first goes over and mooches off the other. By that time they share easily. They eat their salads separately too, but out of necessity. Moshi is now hand-fed most of his salad to slow him down and still allow brushing time by the hubby, and I brush Marlee while she eats hers. When Moshi is finished, I body block him from Marlee’s salad while he rotates between head butting me, digging at my shirt, and looking pitiful! I do think separate bowls help in that nobun feels that the other gets “more” while eating. With treats, I alternate bites with the bunnies but Moshi gets humpy if I’m not fast enough.

Are you sure that Wooly isn’t pulling the fur out himself? I’ve seen Marlee do that, especially while shedding heavily.

He could be, but it’s in a spot consistent with being humped.

I don’t think it would hurt to add another food bowl. Mine have their own food and water bowls. When I bring in their food they will jump at each other sometimes like they are fighting for who gets it first. They did that recently over a cardboard box I put in their room. I had suspected they were fighting over it and I was right. Usagi just went and found something else to do so I guess Kilala claimed her box. So maybe there is a issue there. I haven’t had an issue with humping since my two were first bonded and it ended quickly on its own thank goodness. Its really hard to figure that out when its something you haven’t actually seen for yourself.

I will look for two smaller dishes to see if that helps. They will need to be identical, of course. Don’t want anyone thinking the other is getting something different.
