Okay so I’m an overprotective bunny mama. I will admit this.

I have a massive first aid kit prepped, a book with highlighted areas with different symptoms, care, and what is critical and needs to be seen by a vet asap… Just absolutely everything I can do in an emergency or injury to calm the situation before running to the vet. ((Found a wonderful website with all these details, and step by step instructions and signs to note even for bunny owners who don’t know much about first aid.))

So now my big thing is finding an emergency vet in my area. I have my normal vet, who is about 30 minutes away, and just for basic care and check ups.

But I need to find somewhere I can take both of my babies at any time of day or night. Does anyone have any recommendations for the Dayton Ohio area for 24 hour vets?

I found one in Columbus ((an hour away from me)) called MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets. They just have some insanely horrid reviews. People stating pets have been misdiagnosed. That they nickel and dime you. That they don’t care as much for the animal as they do the money. And that bothers me and worries me. So I’m trying to find another emergency vet, that maybe has a bit better review and opinions over this one.

Also looked at a clinic called Grady in Cincinnati. They told me two of their vets were allergic, and if in the case of emergency, those vets were there at the time I brought my rabbit in, that they would turn us away and refuse to treat them. Which honestly kind of really shocked me.

So both of those places were on my no list, because of those things, but I’m still looking for an emergency vet.

People can say anything they want on-line and I think they’re more likely to take the time for a review when they want to vent their frustrations. I don’t know how many reviews you’re talking about. I think I’d be tempted to visit them if they are your only option.

One of the reviews came verbally from a friend who brought her cat there.

She had absolutely horrid things to say, and she is a pretty level headed person, and very fair normally. So that in addition to the online reviews makes me slightly nervous. She said she went there late at night. There were a few techs, and vets, and no patients, but they made her wait over an hour to even see her cat, who broke her leg bad enough that the bone splintered through the skin. So yeah I’m really worried and when I called to ask a few basic questions they kind of blew me off.

I think I will go check it out at least. Just gotta find a day I can get off to go on up there. After googling directions it is more than 1.5 hours, almost 2 away from me.

But I need a vet in case of emergencies so yeah.

Maybe your regular vet would have some good recommendations for you. My vet has a list of places to go in my area for an emergency at night or on weekends.

Yes, ask your regular vet. I’m sure they would know of “more appropriate” 24 hour vets to take a bunny to in an emergency.

Yes that vet sounds sketchy…and really far away!
