To start off, I have 4 other bunnies, 2 who share a three story cage and two babies who share a two story cage. Now, I’ve been caring to these guys since my mom and I moved in with her boyfriend and his daughter (her bunnies) and I got them their cages and am basically their care takers now, but I decided why not get my real own bunny, since when I move he will be going with me, and out of the pure love of holland lops. I got him his own two story hutch, did a lot of research and I found this little guy. He’s a black three month old holland lop who is kinda special. When we was little his mommy groomed him too much and nicked off most of his private area (he has been taken to the vet and is completely healthy) but, with this being said, he is a little messy when he pees and when I got him he had matts and such. Now I’ve only had this little guy for four days and he’s a complete sweet heart and never wants to leave my lap. I just don’t know what to do about the matts on his back side and his belly. I’ve cut most off of his backside but he really does not tolerate it. I have baby shampoo and I was wondering if I could use that and put him in about an inch of water to try and soak and clean the matts to make it easier to get out. I know I’m always gonna have to clean this little guy a little more than other rabbits. He’s already taking to his litterbox. Would it be safe to use the baby shampoo?

I actually just did this because of matted poo on my mini lop. I have read where baby Hanoi is okay to use, but use very sparingly!

It is recommended that you do not use baby shampoo on rabbits. Here is some info on giving dry and wet baths to rabbits, and what to use or not use on them.

Corn starch works great but if you really need to use water, get some natural soap. I get natural soap in the natural section of my grocery store. Make sure it is unscented.
