I don’t remember seeing this anywhere so thougt I’d post for anyone giving these to their bunnies….

These new tabs are really hard and almost impossible to break into bites for small bunnies. Oxbow says just dip the tablet in water. It works! I stick the tablet under the faucet for a few seconds and they break easily. The urinary support ones take a little more water. My bunnies weren’t crazy about them the first time I offered these but now they can’t wait. I give them each pieces as treats each night.

Anyway, that’s the trick to breaking them!

          Good to know.
I had looked at the supplements before, but never picked them up. I wasn’t sure about how useful they might actually be, let alone if I could get a bunny to take them. Have you noticed any difference since you’ve been giving them to the buns?

Bleh, I’m anti the supplements. The papaya one was a bunch of baloney since papaya was deemed an old wives tale (along with pineapple) & not useful in helping with GI issues or digestion. I really don’t think any of them are necessary in the least B/C our buns get all their essential vitamins/minerals from their pellets. If you don’t feed pellets, I could see trying these out. But if you feed pellets, your bun is getting everything necessary anyways! Just my 2 thoughts!

We just give them as treats and don’t expect anything. Moshi hasn’t had poopy butt since he started getting the digestive support one, but we’ve also been hand-feeding him his salad to make him eat slower.

I give the joint supplement ones. Mostly as treats but both my buns are around 8 and have no visible arthritis. Can’t attribute that to the treats but there are healthy ingredients in them. I don’t have a hard time breaking them. My buns beg for them several times a day so I have to give half or quarter tablets at a time.

I have used the papaya ones in the past. Those are now discontinued and I buy the new ones now. They didn’t like them at first but now they climb and jump on me when they hear the bottle rattling. From my experience I do notice that to me when they are shedding really bad it helps prevent them from getting those necklace strand type poops. There have been times when I haven’t had any and they start to go through a molt they develop those types of poops. I give my two one a day.

I think the key is to view them as treats and if you happen to see benefits to consider the benefits bonuses! I figure as long as the ingredients are healthy, then why not!

I gave the joint support tablets to one of my past bunnies when he developed mobility problems. I would cut them in half with a large, sturdy knife, and I gave him a half in the morning and the other half at night. I don’t know if they helped him, but he did enjoy eating them and I thought of them as healthy.
