Ok, this is going to seem like a basic question. But once I have two rabbits and have them bonded. how many litter boxes should i have? I always assumed 2 but if I could have just one that would make my life easier for sure.

One large litterbox may be fine depending on the bunnies, how much they pee and poop, how much hay they eat (assuming you put hay in the litterbox), and whether or not one or both are litterbox loungers. Two bunnies like my Kieko could easily share one large litterbox. My lops eat a ton of hay, poop mountains, and pee alot. They share two large litterboxes and would need more if we didn’t change them out nightly.

Yeah I was thinking that changing one box would just be so much easier and less expensive since I do use such large boxes. . tenzin does poop a lot but the box I will be using is rather HUGE. Though he does not lounge in there, if he is not eating or using his box he sees no reason to be in there.

I think the label on my lops’ litterboxes says 21 3/4 x 18 on each, and I have an extra just in case. Kieko’s is a medium cat litterbox but she lounges in it — she could share one but it would have to be much larger.

I would caution against it simply because even in bonded pairs there is a pecking order. I have found having only one the dominate one will tend to run the other out the litter pan. To allow them both easy access and less stress I had to reintroduce a second litter pan.

Well I will experiment with litters and such.

I am liking puppy pee pads which is what tenzin has while he heals. The paper litter I have been using isn’t working so well.
