OMG how cute is that bunny?! Congrats on your new addition! I definitely need more pics of this bunny!
Did you get this bunny???!!! How big is he/she??
=DDDDDDDDDD
BUNNY STATS:
AGE: EST. 2-3yrs (Will consult normal vet)
SEX: Male
SHELTER NAME: Taylor
FOREVER NAME: ___________?
COLOR: Agouti
BREED: Unknown
WEIGHT: 6.61 lbs
GOTCHA DAY: July 11, 2015
HEALTH: Appears healthy, likes hay, but is now coming off of a diet of guinea pig food… he’s a bit gassy.
What seems to be his opinion so far?: Chinned half his cage within 4 hours of being home.
I KNEW YOU’D GET HIM!!!!!!! Can’t wait to see more pics!
Congrats to you, the hubby, and the furries!
How adorable! Congrats CT, I can’t wait for more pictures!
I KNEW IT!!!! Congrats, he’s adorable! He looks like a Michael.
He was apparently taken in as a stray, but had already been neutered when found, and has been at the shelter for 3 months.
I’ll see if I can’t get some decent pictures tomorrow. The hubby and I are starting to figure out a forever name for him… He’ll need a good one before we introduce him to the ladies.
My husband says Billy. Yep, Billy and Tilly.
He’s beautiful CT! I want to squeeze him!
He’s beautiful! Congrats to all of you!
He looks like a very big light creamy colour of Olly.
He’s lovely.
OMG he is gorgeous! I so want a cuddle, for some reason he looks like a bun that would actually like being cuddled.
He’s such a good boy so far.
I was worried that the litter box I had for the cage was too small, and he did have some stray poops, but all the pee went in the box. He chinned the water bottle but he DRAINED his water dish last night. There appeared to be no water spillage so it must all be in the bunny! That’s good though… because I was afraid with the first few poops I saw when we brought him home that he might be a bit dehydrated (dry, hard, some misshapen and mostly sticky/tacky). His poops are still a little sticky, dark, and smell of onion… but they are more normal looking in shape and, although protein heavy, look better than yesterday.
This morning he got some fresh pellets, and some nose and ear rubs. He didn’t want the rubs so much once he saw the fresh food. I made him a hay-rack, like Tilly’s, out of a cardboard oatmeal tube, and he ate about 1/5th of the way down overnight. He doesn’t appear to be cage-aggressive at all, and when you come in the room his pointy little ears come up and he sticks his nose up to the bars to greet you. A little later after breakfast I’ll probably put the x-pen around his cage and let him stretch his legs a bit. I have to re-bunny proof the room before he gets to roam, but he seems so much more relaxed than he was at that hot shelter. I think he’s enjoying real A/C.
PICTURE TIME!!!
They’re not the best, but they’re better than his shelter pic! More to come!
He’s still nameless, but we’re starting to run names by him to see what he likes!
“
Congrats!!
LOVE the Agouti buns. I mean, look at those EYES!!
He’s beautiful! He looks like a very big Kieko!
TEAM MICHAEL!!!!(Mickey or Mikey for a nickname)
Subtle enough?
Uh oh…
It begins….
Team Michael. He looks like a Michael.
I too love agouti buns. He looks extremely squishy.
Yes doesn’t he Bam? Computer high five!
How did I miss this! How exciting CT!!! He’s gorgeous. I wanna squish him he looks so big and cuddly!
Computer high five Moxie!
I think Michael will go excellently with a title too. Seeing that he’s going to be a duke (yes, he is, because he’ll marry Lady Tilly, the Grand Duchess de Marbourg and she can’t marry a commoner), he needs a name that can have “lord” in front of it. Lord Michael.
I like Billy too of course, but lord Billy? Somehow it’s not quite dignified enough imo =)
I like the name Tanner. Tanner and Tilly ❤️
You could go with something like Lord William (Billy) Hopperton or Sir Michael bunnyton (however one would spell that not sure) hehe
He is super handsome. I love the coat color that is what Usagi’s coat color is.
What do you mean Bam? He looks very much like a Billy! Yep, Billy Bunny. Or Sir William Bunny.
GO TEAM BILLY!
*sounds the battle horn*
Sorry LBJ, he’s definitely a MICHAEL!!
GO TEAM MICHAEL(MIKEY, MICKEY)!!!!!!
I like Sir William Bunny. My husband’s name is Michael so I have a hard time picturing that as a rabbit name.
Auww no one likes Tanner? lol
Oh Tanner is cute too I must have missed that suggestion.
Big congrats on your handsome new boy!!!!!

I like Sir William Bunny. My husband’s name is Michael so I have a hard time picturing that as a rabbit name.
I can relate.
Hmm, Sir William (Billy) Bunsalot.
I guess Tanner is kind of cute….
Go Team Billy!
Dang, wish I could change my “location”.
Well it lets me change MY location. It’s a sign! Team Michael it is!!!
LBJ thanks for humoring me lol
Well if Tanner is a no go I’m going for Billy I think billy and tilly is cute
But she didn’t ask for our input 🙁 She probably knows better than to start that ha ha.
Love the pics. Such a cutie and I LOVE the hay rack you have
Megabunny, of course she wants our input! =p
Yay BM14! That’s 3 for Billy!
Ha ha ha Well, I’ve got nothin’ so I’ll wait to hear what others think up
She may appreciate the input, but the bunny will be the one to make the final decision.
He’s a such a big beautiful boy! He’s going to have such a great time living you, especially when he meets the other pretty ladies that he’ll be sharing his home with.
I like Tanner. Not a fan of Michael or Billy. He looks like he could be an Arthur or an Alfred.
Quick name him before they all pick each other apart!
He’s so pretty!
Ahem, Sonn. Notice the avatar!
Sir William aka Billy!
Team Billy!
Of course the bunny will make the ultimate desicion. That’s how it should be. We are very respectful of bunnys’ wishes.
Which of course is an argument for naming him Michael. He will want to be called Sir Michael .
Oh please, Bam. You know he would want to be called Sir William (aka Billy). =p
Woohoo! Is that 4 for Billy now?
Nooo. Alfred. Tilly & Alfie has a nice ring, yeah?
I liked Arthur better. King Arthur. A suitable match for the Grand Duchess.
Sir William b/c I like Billy and Tilly!
Michael is still the bestest of the name choices.
Of course, Mox. I was just pondering the alternatives, which btw are sub-par.
Loving name suggestions. I have to run them by both boys (hubby and bunny) but our bun-boy and I are probably going to have final say.
As much as I like WIlliam, I’m probably going to have to vito it due to the fact that I’d call him Bill or Billy… and I can my father in law Bill (his wife calls him BIlly). It may make for some interesting conversations!
I kind of hope that he’ll like some kind of explorer name, like Marco. He seems to want to explore, but he’s a cautious guy that will periscope but doesn’t seem to want up at all. He’s definitely a digger! I’ll try some more names with him today and any suggestions here will be run by the bun as well.
He’s perked up a good bit. He chins everything; doesn’t mind being handled, and loves the top of his head stroked. When he’s had enough he gently grabs your hand in his teeth and moves it away (like Pete used to do!)
I think he was dehydrated, because he’s downed ALOT of water the last 36-48hrs. I wonder how long he’s been that way, and how long he was out on his own before being picked up as a stray. I knew the rescue was too hot for him, but it was better than “in the wild.” I’m getting a vet appointment for him for a check up, but he appears generally healthy so far. These are my main concerns at the moment:
1) I can’t check his molars, so dental check needed. I want to make sure his tooth purrs are all due to either happy or because of that gassy tummy.
2.) He drinks ALOT… and then if he finishes his water and he pees on his towel, I’ve seen him trying to lick up the pee. I’m not sure if this is a sign of illness, just being a strange bunny, or possible habit from being dehydrated without a reliable water source for a long period of time?
I hope his vet visit goes well. He sounds like a wonderful bunny. Whatever name you choose for him will be wonderful because he just so darn cute.
Just got off the phone with the vet. He and TIlly are going on their first car ride tomorrow morning; him for his full comprehensive, and her for a 6 month. Both will be getting pedicures. I’d take them today, but I want to make sure I have the car with the better AC for them to ride in. Hopefully we’ll have a name to go in his file when we get there!
Amerigo Vespucci, Columbus, Livingstone, Vasco da Gama, Magellan, Amundsen, Cpt Cook, Humboldt.
Those are the explorers I come to think of.
I’ve got friends with a cat called Lord Roxington which we all think is quite funny. Pretty sure there’s never been an explorer called that.
Surprise of the morning!
Our little Cassinova (who is still not solidly named yet) was stretching his legs and hopping around this morning and what do I see? Boy bits!
Now either they were wrong about him being neutered, or he has some extra skin down there from being previously well-endowed… I’m going to guess that they were wrong. He has an appointment for his full physical, bloodwork, pedicure, etc. in a few hours, so we’ll know for sure then. I’m going to see if I can’t get hold of the group that had originally caught him “in the wild” and see how they determined he was neutered. Makes me wonder if maybe he wasn’t the daddy of the surprise litter they had with the other bun that came in with him and got adopted.
He’s still got an upset tummy, but allows belly-rubs to help. I’m not sure how long his tummy might be upset from switching cold-turkey from cheap guinea-pig chow to oxbow pellets… I know he’s grooming a lot, too so that’s not helping the tum. He’s being a good boy though. We’re hoping for a good check-up!
It’s official. He has boy bits.
This puts bonding on hold for a little while. (((BOO!)))
Also, both buns were weighed:
New Guy: 6.3 lbs (~2.8 kg) (down from the 6.6 lbs at capture 3 months ago)
Lady Tilly: 6.4 lbs! (2.9 kg) 0.o She put on 1.2 lbs since she was spayed March 1st! And she’s more active and looks thinner! Oy!
That’s a nice size for a cuddly bunny (he looks so cuddly!). My Yohio is 2,7 kg.
What about calling him Ballsy? It somehow seems appropriate
Haha Cottontail thats hilarious. I’m not very good with names but I like Benjamin (benny for short, and damn if someone doesn’t need more reasons to play Benny and the Jets). Also, being a larger guy, I love the name Odin. But hey I am a pretty big nerd
Bam — Ballsy, LOL!
Oh Cottontail! Two big cuddly bunnies! Must share!
I was looking at Marlee last night, she’s really compact and about the size of a med/lg cantelaupe!
Bam! I can’t believe you said that!!! Ha ha ha ha But no Mmm Mmmm Lady Tilly must have a counterpart with a much more regal name
i probably shouldn’t have said that =/ I apologize!!! I meant no disrespect to this beautiful boy.
He absolutely needs to have a regal and grand name.
So I called the rescue and let them know that he was not, in fact, altered. They transferred me to the woman who said he was and she was very apologetic. Apparently their vet that dealt with bunnies left some time ago and they are actively learning about bunnies since their current vet won’t touch them! They had a female (knew because she was pregnant/a-mommy) and compared to her he was definitely a boy. They did not know, however, that nervous or non-active males can retract their little boy bits back into their abdomen; so when they didn’t see them hanging out or feel them they assumed they had been removed. They can’t really help with his neuter because their vet is not bunny-friendly, but were happy to hear I was not going to be bringing him back to them. At least they know a bit more about bunnies, and are trying to look up more information as it becomes available to them… I’ll give them that. They just really have their hands full.
In other news… we’ve got a name!
From now forth, he shall be Lord Duncan. …or Dunny Bunny if he’s being silly.
And something we have learned about him already? There is no messing with meal time.
He doesn’t feel the need to breathe while drinking, eating, or inhaling hay…he’s just a big fluffy vacuum that cannot be disturbed! lol He doesn’t get aggressive. He just actively ignores life in the presence of food.
And the check-up went well, but we did find out he has what appears to be a mild case of sore-hocks. The fur is still covering the area, but it can be brushed to the side with a finger to reveal the sores. We’re guessing that they are from being cooped up while at the rescue. He just didn’t have much room and wasn’t very active there because of it.
His teeth look good (can’t tell the roots without xray), but the vet was able to hold his mouth open without too much struggle to get a look for spurs or odd wear… so far so good! Duncan was very well behaved and only really got jumpy when they pulled out the needle to draw blood. He has a scar on his ear that looks like something went through it, and then the ear healed shut. Since it’s fully healed it’s hard to tell what it was or when.. but it could be anything from a branch to a large BB. He also has no mites or fleas.
We talked about things to check for in his blood work and what to watch for over the next month before bonding, for any indication of illness/infection.
As far as breed and age goes, it’s undecided. He’s a young, healthy adult; but hard to tell somewhere between Tillys age (about 1.5yrs to 3yrs). For his record he’s now listed as 3yrs, to be on the safe side of treatments later on.
Lord Duncan. A very grand name.
Glad to hear he’s healthy!
Aww, Duncan. I love it!
What’s wrong with Ballsy?? Oscar’s best friend is called Ballsy!
Lord Duncan is a great name. He should be happy with that! Glad to hear his vet visit went well.
Lovin his name! Glad he chose one because I was getting ready to start calling him Sir Ballsy or Newguy!
Poor baby’s feet! So glad you rescued him from that box hutch!
Hazel – We couldn’t have TWO Ballsys! Imagine the confusion when Oscar and Ballsy go on adventures and we don’t know which one he took!
JR – He came close to just being Bud… because that tends to be my default for fuzzy guys without names… but Tilly already has a stuffy named Buddy. And Duncan needed something more than Bud.
I love his name I’m glad everything went well and he looks so stuffed and cuddly O-O
-aww, I hope his feet is going to be alright
Cottontail — I end up calling Moshi “buddy”, must be a thing about male furries!
I like the name Duncan. It’s so good that he’s healthy. I can’t wait for you start their bonding thread.
Lord Duncan is a great name! He can wear a kilt for his wedding to Tilly.
So glad to hear he’s healthy apart from the sore hocks-thing. A bunny devouring hay is the most comforting sight imo. Good boy!
Welcome Duncan!
JR – He came close to just being Bud… because that tends to be my default for fuzzy guys without names..
Same! Even a temporary foster dog (female) I had was dubbed “Bud”.
He has a scar on his ear that looks like something went through it, and then the ear healed shut. Since it’s fully healed it’s hard to tell what it was or when.. but it could be anything from a branch to a large BB. He also has no mites or fleas.
Or from an ear tag?? Though I can’t think of a reason why he would have had one tbh.
I think its a guy thing. When Rocky walks in I say “Hey buddy” and when Pumpkin walks in I say “Hi baby”
Duncan!!! I love it!
I love the name Duncan. I did have a hamster named Ballsroth. My friend had one that was older than mine who had a huge pair of balls. I was trying to come up with a name for him and with that hamster in mind and a silly character’s name from I believe the original Diablo game which was Captain Ballsroth I decided it was perfect for him. So don’t feel too silly Bam about the Ballsy name. hehe
SK – His feet should heal fine now that he’s got padded surfaces and a good nail trim. He’s also got more room to move around. Today I am re-bunny-proofing the rest of the room he is in so that he can have some free roam time.
Jersey – The ear tag thing was actually my first impression upon seeing it; like a cattle or tracking tag. It looks almost like (to me anyway) it had been pinched outward in that shape for a long time like it had one of these on it:
…But honestly I couldn’t see why he would have one unless he’s an escaped meat-farm rabbit or escaped from a local test lab… and I believe the local lab mainly houses apes/monkeys. (not condoning it, just know it’s there). Dr. B seemed like he didn’t really want to make too many guesses into it since it’s obviously not irritated now. Duncan does seem protective of that spot though.
In Duncan news this morning; WE HAD A FULL FLOP! I expanded his run a little bit and let him out this morning… and after a couple minutes of cautious hops he stretched, had some head rubs and belly rubs, then “fluffed” the towel that is over the ramp from the cage and did a full-out flop onto his side. He laid there for a few minutes with the towel as a pillow with some lip-licking and some breathing as the only signs of life. HAPPY BUNNY. <3
Ahh how cute! He sounds like he is settling in nicely. I am so happy for you and Duncan!
omg Baldrick! Oh now I wanna start the name game again.. Lol
Ballsroth is equally catchy and pretty funny!
CT, that pic reminds me of ear stretchers.
Yay for flops! White belly flops!
Now we have 2 fine names for when someone else asks us to name their bunny, Ballsroth and Baldrick. (Surely we were asked? We didn’t just start naming Sir Duncan without being asked to…?)
Yay for a full flop!!! Weird about the healed-up hole in his ear. Maybe he once really was tagged as a meat-bunny =( He’s safe now though, that makes me happy!
Bam – I think that would lend itself to why he was 6.6lbs when animal control picked him up and now he’s 6.3lbs…but he had poor diet and exercise for 3 months, also. Either way, IM’ glad he’s with us. I was trying to get a couple pictures of his ear, but he’s quite happy in low light at the moment, so it will have to wait.
And of course you guys were asked! Duncan just decided he liked Duncan. Can’t argue with a bunny!
Naaww, Duncan decided! It’s very true, can’t argue with a bunny!
I so often want to take pics of Yohio in the evenings when he looks so cute lying on my bed, but I know he hates the flashlight so I try to restrain myself. During the day-light hours he’s UNDER the bed, probably looking just as cute only not visible =)
Aww no Michael? Oh well…*Sigh*
MM – I personally liked the name Michael, but Duncan and his daddy were not sold on it for him. I’ll upload lots of Duncan pictures to make up for it though!
I’m certainly looking forward to many pics of this beautiful boy =) I liked the name Michael, but the important thing is how the bunny feels. If Duncan wants to be called Duncan, Duncan it is =)
