        Hi everyone,

It’s me again, I’ve a question that I’m seeking your input on re: Thumper.

So he’s becoming a teenager and getting sexually active/interested now, I think. He likes to circle our feet, humps, grunts, and nips at them (he does the circling dance a lot before too but it wasn’t accompanied by the grunting and humping). That we’re fine with (we’ll be fine with anything really, cause he’s our little boy )

But Thumper also sprays urine sometimes. I’ve read it’s typical for a sexually interested bun, it shows dominance (like when my fiance stops him from chewing the couch and he sprayed him), and it’s marking behaviours. I also know that it’s best prevented by neutering him, but we don’t have funds for that right now (I’m based in Ontario btw, if you can recall from my other posts).

So my question is, what’s the best way to get Thumper pee out of the carpet flooring? It’s easy enough to wipe up on hardwood flooring, but carpet flooring, I have no idea how. If you have encountered this situation, how do you get pee out of the carpet flooring?

And short of neutering him (as I said, we’ve not the funds for that right now), what can I do to discourage him from peeing outside his cage and litter boxes? (he’s free range when we’re home) I’ve used vinegar on the wires to discourage him (before we went ahead and proof them all), but I don’t think it’s a good idea for carpets as it soaks in and leaves a smell.

Nature’s Miracle odor and stain remover works great on carpet (and fleece!) and is available at many pet stores and online. White vinegar and water (50/50) is probably best for non-carpeted floors.
