So this morning I found a small worm in Regulus’ poop. It was pretty easy to identify as a pinworm. The rest of his poop is normal, his weight is fine, he doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort- in fact, the only real symptom he’s showing is an itchy butt (though I’m unsure if that’s because of the worms or not, because he grooms himself religiously, lol).

I don’t have money for a vet visit right now, can anyone recommend a good dewormer? I’ve researched a bit and so far the best options look like Panacur or Safeguard paste.

2 of my rabbits had panacur when they had pinworms.

Both those products have same active ingredient and are suitable. The paste might be easier to give him but he could snub it too :/

Panacur is good if he will eat it when you put the tube in his mouth, if he has a litter tray clean it with white vineagar and water and wash all his bowls and give his cage a good clean, you can also give him a brush to make sure there are no eggs, I’m sure you know to wash very well after handling him as worms can be transfered, if there are little children about and they touch bunny make sure they wash well too, or you could tell them bunny is poorly and doesn’t want to be touched for a few days but he’ll be OK, I know myself how bad worms are, I’m sure you have the situation under control, but if you find you have any of the symptoms like your bunny make sure you get a tablet and anyone else who lives with you, its simple and fast to treat, but if a child in the household gets then take them to a doctor because medicine can cause hallucinations with Mebendazole medicince.

Pinky- thank you for the tips! I’ve scrubbed down pretty much everything in my room, and I’m being really careful about washing my hands all the time.
