I went to the vets today, because my last appointment was canceled because of a small emergency in my house, I was a good boy in the Taxi and when we waited to see the vet, the vet called me to go in, my Mummy explained that I don’t like to be picked up, I like to look round first a hand on my fur a few times when I’m on the ground, then I will let humans know if I want to be picked up, I do this by climbing on the humans lap, Did he listen? No he didn’t, I heard him say in a very posh voice he has been a vet for 20 years and never been scratched or bitten buy a rabbit, he opened my box and grabbed me, he had been told, he did not listen, so I scratched him and went to Mummy, she was stroking me and told me everything was OK, the vet was moaning his arm had been scratched, yeah yeah, poor veterinary and this was before my claws were cut, he called a nurse in to help, she asked if I was Olly, my Mummy said I was and another man came in and the first vet left, the man said that he was really a cat vet not a rabbit vet and he wasn’t supposed to be looking at me, this upset my Mummy very much, so I gave her some Bunny kisses and she was OK, the vet listened to my chest with some funny thing, (Stethoscope.) it looked like a nice thing that would chew up nicely, this vet was nice to me, he understood about how I like to be picked up, so he put me on the ground to watch how I run and play, I did a few periscopes rubbed my Mummy’s legs, the vet was sat on the floor calling me, I went to him and let him pick me up, he looked at my eyes, checked my fur and checked me for lumps, then it was time for my nails to be done and I was good, I gave this vet a Bunny lick on his hand, I went back in my box and then the vet told my Mummy I was a very healthy strong rabbit, my heart and lungs are very good, but my eyes are sore because of hayfever, that is why I sneeze, I don’t need any medicine for it, so I am healthy, all my teeth are good too, I am strong and that first vet knows, Mummy has been out again and bought me tons of Bunny things, tomorrow Mummy is going to clean our room, then we are going to watch The Wind in The Willows video again and we will have Bunny snuggles

Aww! Congrats on the clean bill of health. Sorry to hear about the incident with the other vet, though. I hope he learned his lesson about picking up rabbits or at least is taught about proper ways to picking them up.

Thank you, but due to the stress of it all and I had to visit my Doctor (Because I had a nightmare and broke out in Eczema) Olly is now registered at another vets, funny thing is they told me that a lot of people have been there and had problems and brought their rabbits to them, I went into the vets where we went yesterday and that vet was there in reception having a cup of tea, he has a big sticking plaster (Band aid) on his arm, I asked if that was what Olly did, he said it was, I asked him why he had been so cruel to Olly and shouted at me, (He had shouted at me because Olly pooped badly in his carry box because Olly was taken up in a Taxi, he doesn’t like cars.) children round here call me Aunty Pinky, so the has had a Aunty Pinky telling off and got very upset, I said people that are nice to Olly get a thank you card and a small box of chocolates or packet of biscuits, I do that at the shop I go to they got an Easter card from Olly, I said we were not coming again and could send Olly’s medical report to his new vets whilst I was there, then I said I had phoned before I went in to say I was on my way because I was very nervous because of a call I got from a vets years ago some very bad news about a dog I had, they said they understood and everything was going to be OK and all vets were fully trained in handling rabbits, my bottom, anyway I’m going to find out who to complain to in the city, the main vets group because I have his name, I have to be a voice for my little voiceless Olly so it doesn’t happen to another bunny, I too hope he learned a lesson.

Wow is this guy even a vet? Is he starting out? If he is upset about a little poop and a scratch he has a lot more to learn.

How can you be upset about a scratch and some bunny poop if you’ve been a vet for 20 years? :s That guy doesn’t need to be working with animals…

True Stickerbunny and emm_renn, the people that referred me there have had many complaints about the vet, Olly has been very scared the last few days, he saw his carry box and laid on his side kicking it, pushing it under my desk, running into the side of it, tossing it about, he used to love it, because I’d get the hoover out and he would climb into his carry box and pull the door too so I could lock it, because he learned hoover = box, because he is a chewer, I can replace my hoover but not Olly, just yesterday I managed to calm him down a little, he went to his quiet spot and he let me stroke him, brush him a bit on his back and touch his paws and stroke his face until he fell asleep, 20 years of veterinary care and this happens, every time I walk past the vets I see him in reception and he holds his arm as if is was broken, he’s playing on it, yes cover it up to prevent germs getting in from other animals, the good news is Olly is now registered with a lady vet and she keeps rabbits herself and is an expert in rabbit care and a behaviourist, the new vets are shocked and appalled about this vet and they actually phone me to see how Olly is doing, I think he is calmer today because he reached up and gave me a bunny kiss and a lick on my thumb, well I had just chopped some cherries, as for me I look like Godzilla with a bad sunburn still with Eczema, I was going to shout at the vet but Olly was in a state and I knew it would upset him more.
