So we are trying to litter train Basil, so we noticed she peed in the corner of her cage. So thats where we set her bin, then she started ppeeing in another corner, ok another bin. Now she just peeson the outside of the boxes. Does anybody else have this odd behavior?

Yes, I have a similar problem. My bun always poops in her litter tray, never had a problem with that, but she will always wee outside it or to the side of it, or just anywhere except the litter tray. I always remove the dirty litter each day so it’s not like there isn’t room in there for wee. Unfortunately I really don’t know how to get her to stop!

Make sure you are cleaning the area they peed in really well with something like vinegar. When I was training my two I got a tip about putting a paper towel in the bottom of the litter box with the litter over it then it would collect the pee. When you go to change the litter box again put the dirty paper towel in the bottom again that way they smell where they have gone before and are more likely to pee in the box again and not outside. I don’t know if that advice will help but its what I did to train mine. Best of luck!

So since it been two consecutive days i think itssafe to say Basil is atleast partial litter trained. A few days ago we took her to the vet and when we got home i left her in her carrier for a bit so i couls really clean her cage good. I scubbed it as best i could then re filled the litter and setup her new litter box, we had been trying with differnt boxes before. And the next morning we noticed that she had pooped and peed in the box alot. There were still some stray poops and few pee spots but it was clear she was usong her new litter box. And now after a 3rd night in a row i think its safe to say she is mostly litter trained. Its just funny how it seemed to happen over night and we had brought her home months ago now with little to no succes, but now shes all about it. Im a thankful bunny parent now, no more cleaning her entire cage by hand evry morning lol
