I was watching TV in my room while Luna was out and I saw her go into my garbage can. She pulled out a q tip and by the time I got it out of her mouth about 1/3 of it was missing. Obviously she ate it and now I’m concerned that it may not pass through her digestive track. I dont know if it matters, but she is pretty big (american chinchilla, 12 lbs). I will be closely monitoring her appetite and checking to see if she continues to poop. Is there a chance that she could pass the q tip or should I just take her to the vet tomorrow? I’m very worried and feel really guilty for allowing this to happen, any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I think there’s a good chance she could pass it. Give lots of hay. Monitor her.

Okay thank you I’ve never owned a bunny before so I kinda thought it was a big deal lol.

It could be. But most often it isn’t. Bunnies frequently eat weird stuff like carpet and rubber toys and pieces of backpacks and shoes and most bunnies come out of it allright. But you can’t be absolutely certain, so you should always monitor poop and appetite and give lots of hay. They can’t vomit so if sth gets into their stomachs, it had better pass through. At signs of stuff not passing through (bunny stops pooping and/or eating), it’s time for a vet visit.

As Bam has mentioned bunnies eat stuff they shouldn’t constantly. Q-tip is very low on the danger list. Especially if it has a cardboard stick not a plastic one. We deliberately give bunnies card board after all.

I think your rabbit will be fine! My rabbit gets into the weirdest stuff and she passes everything she eats. I swear I have a goat rabbit on my hands.
